Have you ever heard the saying that "All you have to do is stay (insert ethnicity) and die"? One of my friends would always say that. In the comic, Parallax is threatening to kill John so John says all he has to do is stay black, taking away the "and die" part of saying.

I don't get it.


Why would he say that?


Was there the threat of him changing ethnicity? I've always been wildly confused by this line.
