Glowing green eyes for John, or no?

It seems to be something grandfathered in from the cartoons and it bothers me. Why would he have glowing green eyes?

Of course, to answer my own question, there might even be an answer to that: aftereffect of swallowing his own power ring in Mosaic.

But still. It's weird.

No, it looks creepy and weird, like he's possessed or something. And wouldn't that fuck up his vision? All he'd see is green.

Ilike the green eyes, imo they dont look any more creepy than all white eyes. eg when hal wears his mask.

No. This is just another case of Liefeld's Disease where artists don't draw pupils and let the colorist deal with it. It's not laziness, because addding two little circles isn't that much work, it's just a weird artistic choice that I can't really comprehend. It doesn't look that much more intimidating (unless you're Batman), and it stretches the suspension of disbelief about the character seeing anything at all.
I mean, it's not like he's getting night vision whenever his eyes "go all green". It's just supposed to make him seem like a badass. Half the time, it's not working.

The guy was a guardian at one point why not let him stand out and sometimes have glowing green eyes.

I liked it when the Justice League cartoon came out, and for a while it was fine in the comics. It's long worn out its welcome with me though. GL as a concept and John as a character exist long after the novelty of the show fade away. Now if it happens it just looks odd with all these other GL who it doesn't happen to.

I suppose it'd give him something different for the character.May aswell cut the hair off and grow a goatee while he's at it though. He seems to be getting worse and worse and it's a shame because he used to be a great character, even not so long ago ,that GL issue with john in wasn't bad but it seems to have all gone downhill .
I think he should join EW to be honest with a new look and these green eyes,I know I've gone a bit off topic but I think anything different or new for John is going to be a plus at the moment.

It works for the JL/JLU series, but not for the books.

Since he swallowed his ring in Mosaic, wouldn't his gut glow green?.. and what would happen if/when he passed the ring?
