What was so great about it? Its been nothing but playing into the prologue of WotGL and then once the War started, that aspect from EW was completely dropped.
What's happening to Emerald Warriors is pretty much proof positive that there is no long term direction for the GL books and they're pretty much flying on the seat of their pants.
No way they intended to launch Emerald Warriors and give it just one story arc before making it enveloped into War of the GLs and then ending it.

Nope and this why I'm going along with the theory that DC hadn't in the long-run planned to reboot there universe this fast (it just came out of nowhere). That means a lot of DC comics and stories are going to come off as being unfinished.
Actually, you're probably - don't know for sure - wrong. According to Bleeding Cool, Didio wanted to reboot the whole DCU in 2008 with Final Crisis, but got shot down by then-publisher Paul Levitz. As JMS says:
When Dan DiDio comes out to the West Coast, we tend to get a bite for dinner to discuss projects, ideas, books and just hang. Dan is a great guy and an energetic speaker, chockful of ideas and aspirations for DC. As part of that, he shared repeatedly on and off for really more than a year his dream of rebooting the DCU and starting over.
So I felt confident that it was coming soon (which is one reason why I felt there wouldn’t be a problem in the long run leaving the monthly books, since most of the things done in Superman and Wonder Woman would be erased by the reboot anyway, so ultimately it didn’t matter whether I stayed or left. I just couldn’t say anything at the time because I wanted to respect Dan’s privacy and his desire to do what he thought was right when he thought it was right to do it.
That said: end to end, top to bottom, front to back, this is Dan’s dream, and he’s fought long and hard to make this happen. I think it’s absolutely the right move at the right moment in history. If you think about how well the Flash, Green Lantern and Atom were rebooted during the Silver Age, those books made the characters more contemporary, personal and relevant to the 70s. Imagine how much poorer the comics world would be without those reboots, if there had never been a Hal Jordan, or a Barry Allen.
Taking that approach to rebooting the majority of the DC line is a gutsy move on an unparalleled scale, and I think Dan deserves a massive round of applause for making it.
The Emerald Warriors book was planned in late 2009, announced in early 2010 - at a time when it seemed like there would be no reboot. But once Didio was made publisher, he began clearing the decks for a reboot. Which meant a lot of books were launched last year with the spectre of a relaunch coming, and those books would be victims of the change. Emerald Warriors is likely one of those books. Especially since in 2010 the color spectrum really took over, I'd guess the choice came down to being between 3 GL books and 1 Red Lantern books vs. 2 GL books and 2 spectrum books.
ok Booster, Fire, Ice, Red, Bruce, Guy,.....Fine.............BUT!!!!!! Donna? Vixen? Aromored Aquaman?!? Where's Beetle, Cap and PG?!?
Edit: ok so that's not an armored Aquaman, It's some new Kid from China who's showing up a lot in DCU Online Legends. One thing though since Guy is re-upping with the League I guess we can disregard his comments about not truly loving Tora? It seems they have a second chance now. I personally would be very happy to see that. Also I hope Guy's return doesn't alter his Honor Guard Status
Eit2: ok so here's the original cover and the revised version seems Donna's been removed
