Thought I'd put this here, since this is the John section of the forum.

Just a poster I made up for a Mosaic TV series proposal. Looks to be losing its matchup over in the Drafts section, but it's still close, so you never know. Had fun whipping up the poster, though.

To be fair, he might have been expecting a more "chipmunky" voice for the character. I was trying to avoid that, but if he has an established "voice" he thinks of when reading the character, it might have just seemed too odd to him.

Photoshopped a bunch of stuff together:

Termite Mounds, dirt road, desert, crystals, grass and trees, starfield, the title block from the comic (textured to look like tile), and my lead actor's face. Added some text, and some touches here and there, and voila! Not expert by any means, but a lot of fun.

Maybe. I'll let a mod decide. I thought it might be OK in the John Stewart-related section, but you could be right.

No, I'm a big Stewart fan, the main reason I don't like him as Ch'p is because it'd just sound rediculess. Face it, there will never be a Ch'p on Tv which dosn't sound stupid. And out of all the actors out there, he chose a very posh one, something which Ch'p is not.

Well sure, if you're going to object to any actor choice that would avoid it. It's kind of becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. You seem to be basically saying that Ch'p HAS to sound stupid, and any voice cast that DOESN'T make him sound stupid is automatically bad.

You're welcome to that opinion, but I don't find it a very compelling argument when my entire object was to cast someone for Ch'p who would AVOID making him sound stupid. In Mosaic Ch'p was something of a source of wisdom, in an unusual, alien way, and making him sound like Alvin would ruin that role, especially in a series that is supposed to be more serious. I had two choices as I saw it, cut the character out entirely, or try to do something to make him fit in a serious work. I was thinking something along the lines of Reepicheep in the Narnia movies. I character that had some humor to him, without being a cartoon. And definitely a character that demanded to be taken seriously, in the context of the story.

I was never a fan of the stupid, Disney-fied Ch'p we got in the old GLC run at the end of Vol. 2 of GL. He wasn't originally portrayed that way, and Mosaic redeemed the character somewhat in my eyes.

Would seem rather odd given the ring's translation capability (one which would have to be used extensively in a Mosaic series). If I handled Ch'p that way, I'd HAVE to handle ALL aliens that way, and that would get rather tedious, not to mention confusing.
