DC has done some appallingly stupid things with Guy in the past, but if they make him a Red Lantern, that'll take the cake.

The stuff he is wearing on the covers seen so far doesn't look like the Red Lantern suit he wore in Blackest Night. It looks like the armor of Atrocitus. Which means that he will most likely become the leader of the RLC. That's a lot more interesting than he's been for years. Plus, it's Fialkov, who's a really great writer.

Well the Red Lanterns suck, and making Guy the boss of that pack of ranting and drooling idiots won't fly.

Indeed, it kind of feels like rehashing an element that wasn't that great before. Eh, oh well, hopefully this frees up for some more John Stewart love in GLC.

I'm not thrilled about it, myself. About all I can say in it's favor is that, if they WERE going to make one of the Earth Lanterns into a Red Lantern, Guy was the best choice. But I'd rather have Guy as a teammate for our other heroes, not an antagonist, which being a Red Lantern would tend to make him.

It isn't as bad as it would have been back before they established that at least SOME Red Lanterns can make constructs, and act and converse as if they still have a mind and personality. But I still can't get all that excited about Guy being shuffled off to a "side title" as I see it.

It'll be worth an ish or two if Guy immediately kicks the living horseshit out of this crybaby Rankorr dork. And maybe it's in him to go ahead and vaporize him in the effort.

Preferably along with the idea of him banging Bleez.

Guy's always been about anger, so the Red Lanterns seem like a natural fit. With all the creative teams shifting around RL might actually pick up.

I haven't been reading it, but it seems like the GL Animated title has a Red Lantern that is hanging around with the GLs quite a bit. That idea, plus the fact that the Reds aren't really "evil" anymore, makes me think Guy will retain most of who he is, just a bit more pissed off. As for his role in the title, not too sure yet what will come of that, will he be like he always is but with a Red Ring instead? Will he cross paths with other GLs in his title? Other Emo Corps? Will he be a space mercenary/bounty hunter type character going after bad guys? Only time will tell.

It won't happen, but I'd love to see him involved in something with the Corpse. Like maybe they are hunting him down or something since he's become Red. I dunno.

I would rather see Guy get his Warrior powers back than seeing him play another round of the Power Ring equivalent of Musical chairs. This time just to accommodate John's comic book self.

I don't want to see Guy with anything BUT a green ring. Not excited by this new direction at all. The only silver lining I'm seeing is that John Stewart will possibly get more panel space in GLC.

If they'd make me the writer, that would happen. I said last week that I was going to write an Alan Scott story, but I'm going to change that and write a John Stewart story instead. I'll be posting it in the Fan Works section of this web site.

They should go in the direction that I've laid out for them.
