Right. But he's still got authority over creative staff. He's just casting a wider net due to his success. Didio's got direct authority over the books, as he's a publisher. Both of them have power over the editors and writers, and none of those folks are going to go against the wishes of the powers-that-be. They don't want to find themselves out of a job.

Damn Right! Both were directly responsible for neglecting John Stewart in the comics for years. Especially after the succesful Justice League TV series with millions of fans and viewers worldwide. How stupid is that from a commercial kind of view. This is something I still can't comprehend. While emphasizing their childhoods wet dream Hal Jordan. John's Didio's and Lee's leave is long overdue. They spoiled the whole DC Universe with their crappish ideas.

Also, Fatality was, presumably, mostly changed by the time spent locked inside a big Sapphire crystal (unless THAT'S been retconned out). Wearing the ring may have served simply to maintain the changes wrought by that experience, rather than bringing about such changes simply by wearing it. That would work for me as an explanation, too, if they bothered to use it.

That is definitely still in continuity. This image appears in GLC #34, and it shows Fatality sealed in the crystal:

It's also possible the ring is having an effect on Carol now too, which would explain how she's acting towards Kyle. Love is one of the extremes of the spectrum, so it would make sense it would be more controlling than many of the others, even if the user wasn't entirely aware of the effect.

I am with you on this one. I started a whole thread in the KYLEVERSE to complain about the dynamic between him and Carol as soon as that whole mess started. Seeing this happen has given me a false sense of hope that relationship will end similarly to this one.

On the issue itself, I have loved John taking the lead in the book but I am so damn tired of him being the beaten down Lantern. The Futures End tie in really feeds off all of the garbage that's followed him since he destroyed Mogo and it takes him to an even angrier place than we have seen him before. I'm getting tired of it.

This was a good issue... but I don't like the John-Fatality thing so casually relegated to "Oh, it was the ring. Sorry." Seems cheap.

Johns doesn't have a say. He's not Publisher or Editor in Chief. Stop blaming him for everything.

He's the CCO. You can't tell me that he's got no say in creative matters, especially when it's his vision of Lanternverse we're talking about.

Of course Johns is involved. He's just got the direct hatchet man anymore.

Great issue, awesome plot twist. Nice to see the newer team in a good stride. I hope they keep the momentum and go for a lot more issues like this.
