  • Guy's death in "Worlds at War," then return?

I just saw Guy's death in "JLA: Our Worlds at War #1," but I'm wondering where/what is the issue where he comes back even more powerful that Wikipedia alludes to?

Well, if anyone's interested, I've learned the return/resurrection of Guy was in Action Comics 789 and 790.

May I ask how he died at OWAW and how he came back in AC? Didn't read any of those but would like to know..

One of the Imperiax probes impaled and killed him in JLA: Our Worlds at War #1. Don't know how he comes back fully (something about he's in a pocket of Hell, and Superman replaces Guy with the villain Kancer, and then the two of them escape) because the issues aren't here yet.

I did, both Action Comics 789 and 790. Both interesting stuff with Guy and Superman, and the ending of 790 is particularly amusing.

He doesn't technically die at all. He gets impaled in JLA: Our Worlds at War in a very brief cameo, then somehow winds up in Hell... but he's still alive, still has flesh. His Vuldarian powers kept him alive, but adapted to his environment, twisted him, making him into like a huge rock monster version of how he looked before. And he's pissed at Superman for not thinking to try and save him after Our Worlds at War.

In the end Superman kind of makes a deal where Kancer -- the villain he was fighting at the time -- sort of takes Guy's place in Hell, and Guy is allowed to leave.

The fun scene is at the end of the Action two-parter, with Guy (restored and back to full health) and Superman reclining on the beach, just shooting the shit.

urg, sounds a lil weak but i might get it. I think i might make a list of Guy's appearance(from the end of his series until rebirth) and get them all.

It was pretty cool, GUY comes off as seriously badass! The only problem (if compared to current continuity), yet again, is GUY basically says he's prepared to take out villians permanently!
Personally i have no problems with GUY being the GL that kills as he has done so in the past, both as a GL and Warrior!

The powers that be can't seem to decide whether he should kill or not. Make up your minds DC!
:On worlds afar or scenes at home, wherever the cause should make me roam, always i vow to fight the good fight, to combat evil with all green lanterns might!:

PowerRing, did you ever make that Guy checklist from the end of his series until now?

The plan was to bring Guy back as Warrior but with an added teleportation power. He was supposed to be the garbage man of the DCU -- taking on the dirty jobs that nobody else would do. But the plan got axed.

And his death in Our World At War was the most disrespectul ever given to a comics protagonist -- it got one panel!

The interesting thing is, if you read OWAW closely, at some point after Guy is impaled (which wouldn't be remotely fatal based on what we had been shown to that point about his Vuldarian abilities) there is a scene at some kind of hospital where somebody is calling for "Vularian plasma", or somesuch. Since Guy is the "Last Vuldarian", I took that to mean that he wasn't killed, AND was being treated. I was kind of surprised when we were told that people thought he died and left him behind...

I like that concept, BTW. I wish they'd give it a tryout with Joe Gardner.
