ok in BG #2 (second series) Booster goes into a bar as Michael Carter and has a drink with pre-Green Lantern Guy Gardner who's watching a Game on TV and looking at the phone. Booster gets Guy to explain to which Guy tells how his Father was an abusive drinker who's now dying. Guy seems on the verge of wanting to go make peace with his dad but It's when Booster explains how his Family never wanted any part of him before they died that convinces Guy that he should go home.
BOOSTER HAS REALLY CHANGED HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!!
Originally Guy never did make that trip. in fact he didn't even know about his Father's death until after the events framing Guy Gardner Year 1. also, that could have been a major alteration in Guy's character.
think about it.
from Emerald Dawn II we know Guy's always had a temper. (he tore up a locker room in a rage when his knee injury side-lined him.) a lot of that rage came from the abusive childhood he had. As he got older and more misfortunes befell him he became increasingly angry to the point where he evolved into the brain damaged thug that joined the JLI. partially at least we can surmise that his unhealed wounds from his childhood had a large part in all that anger welling up.
by Booster's actions however, Guy has had a chance to heal some of those wounds and put that past behind him. an emotional heart to heart (with his father's spirit) originally didn't occur until his Christmas Party at Warriors. after that Guy became even more emotionally stable. now, however he may stabalize much earlier still and actually become Earth's greatest Green Lantern. in fact It would actually birth a whole new time-line that might see Guy completely un-do a lot of the things that had troubled him

Guy is selected as Earth's Auxillary Green Lantern
Guy is able to evade injury from the bus accident is Given a Ring on a full time basis.
John Stewart is watched but un-called
Guy's Ring charging accident occurs but when he sees Hal with his girlfriend he manages to cope better with the hurt his mind therefore remains strong enough to resist Dementor's manipulations.
Guy works with the Guardians during the Crisis. John stewart is made a Green Lantern by the "last Guardian" that Gave Guy his in the original timeline. (note: John's life hasn't been as rough as Guy's. so, while he's full of attitude, he's not as arrogant or spitefull as Guy was)
The Lantern Corps holds trial for Sinestro, rather than kill him Guy convinces them to banish Sinestro to a void dimension . The destruction of the Power Battery is averted. Parralax is awakened but without Sinestro to guide it to Hal it remains trapped.
Guy adopts the "familiar" uniform joins the Justice League International and while he and Batman still don't mesh very well he avoids a lot of the fighting that occured originally.
Guy meets Ice when she joins the League they quickly become friends and soon after become involved (no porn movie dates or fights with Black Hand)
Carol Ferris once again under the influence of Star Saphire kills John Stewart's wife, Katma Tui
John Stewart fails to save Xanshi
Guy and Hal Defeat the Old Timer Hal's temples stay brown no early grey)
John is selected by the Guardians to watch over the Mosaic
Guy is taken by Aliens and shown his life in their cloning process the painfull memories instead of hurting him give him an idea and he fills the clone with anger and hate making it very unstable emotionally. the clone becomes the very Jerk guy Gardner we all knew first time around.
Guy helps the League defeat the clone and then helps Ice defeat her brother.
Guy and Hal never have the Big Fight for the Sector. Instaed they convince the Guardians to double the Lanternn Corps Guy and Hal are Partners
Superman faces Doomsday and Dies. Guy is severely beaten but remains
Guy doesn't trust Cyborg or Eradicator Guy does work with Steel and realizes it's his friend John Irons.
Coast City is destroyed Guy immediately informs Hal of the destruction.
Both Guy and Hal face Mongul together they then work wit Oliver Queen to convince the Government to rebuild Coadst City.
Extant Operates alone in a bid to take over all time. he's defeated by Gardner and Guy gains a new permanent enemy
Guy is still a Green Lantern When Buck Wargo Seeks the Warrior's Waters.
Buck becomes the adventurer/hero known as Warrior
Guy saves tora from overmaster's attack. after Overmaster is defeated Guy and Tora get married
Parralax Escapes the CPB by way of Sinestro's Void Prison. Sinestro tries to convince it to possess Hal but hal's will is now too Strong for Parralaz to get a foothold instead Parralax chooses to bond with Sinestro.
The Guardians discover Parralax's escape and witness it's bonding to Sinestro. They send Guy Gardner to recruit Kyle Rayner. Kyle travels to Oa with Guy bringing Alex with him. Kyle is given the first ring to be made without the yellow impurity. He Joins the Green Lantern Corps.
Sinest-lax starts a Yellow Lantern Corps.
Alexandra Dewitt is attacked by Sinest-lax. Kyle calls on all his will to save Alex and his strength calls ion to Him Kyle assumes the Ion identity.
Guy Hal and John rally the Corps to face down the Yellow Lanterns as Ion and Sinest-lax battle throughout the Universe.......
