So the thread about Hal killing got me to thinking about what Guy's views on lethal force are now.
Interestingly, he's a character that has declared several times that he's not a killer -- most recently in the Corpse arc, I think -- and yet, he once intentionally killed an already-defeated Major Force with a surpising amount of forethought and rationality. Force had just killed Mace, had murdered a random lady thinking it was Guy's mom, and had killed Kyle's girlfriend, but this wasn't a lashing-out-in-grief-stricken-rage murder. Guy had time to think about it a little, to watch Kyle start to kill and then decide not to, to raise Force up off the ground, have a little chat with Kyle, and then kill. With a blade made of his own arm, no less. That's a personal kind of kill. And I'm not doubting that he was angry and grieving and probably a little bit irrational at the time even if it didn't show on the surface, but still, it wasn't a heat of the moment thing.
Nevermind that Force later came back. At the time, I'm sure there was no question in Guy's mind that the guy was dead. Kyle even declared him dead. In fact, I'd say that the fact that Force came back only to go and "murder" Arisia would only reinforce Guy's justification for killing the guy in the first place.
Anyway... I'd love to see Guy and Kyle have a chat about the lethal force thing, just as a callback to this whole thing with Major Force. At the time, Kyle couldn't bring himself to kill, but Guy could, and neither of them judged the other for the choice they made. It was a really great character moment for them both, both separately and as a pair.
Thoughts?
