  • Kyle commission piece.

I've commissioned a piece from Darryl Banks. I've shown it to a friend or two and thought this might be a decent place to put my first post. It hasn't been titled or anything like that, but I think I'd call it "From Sorrow, Hope".

    I'd love to hear comments.

Should be a nice piece. Darryl does great work. I had him do his first Saint Walker piece over the summer for my g/f's birthday. It came out great.
"My mind is deluged with thoughts of Heaven and Hell,
Crime and Punishment, Damnation and Redemption. Hal
    Jordan... And The Spectre.

I'm dead, yet I live. I have no identity. Yet I know
who I am. And once again I've been given power enough
to change the world. This time, Lord...
    Let me be worthy."

Ahhh ♥ His piece dedicated to Donna. I wish he'd still work on that.

That was one of the small bits that has stayed with me ever since. It's an extremely powerful piece if you remember when Darryl put it in the books.

I came up with the idea of the artwork shortly after my wife passed away from cancer. I wanted something that reflected the pain that I was feeling, but didn't feel sad. I wanted it to look more upbeat, more inspirational even though I wasn't aware of that at the time. Darryl's the one who decided to introduce the Blue Lantern symbol. It makes the piece, in my opinion.

That's actually very touching to read, and very beautiful of you to do. The piece was already an absolute joy to look at in composition, but knowing the context makes it all the more gorgeous.

That part always stuck with me, too I wish they'd keep it in continuity as a work that Kyle does in the future.

I think what Darryl did reflects well on what you were aiming for. Good luck with everything and congratulations for being able to hold on to hope ♥

Sam, that is a very touching tribute, thank you for sharing it.

And the artwork by Mr. Banks is (as always) a pleasure to behold.

I recieved the finished commission today. It was waiting on my porch when I came home. Darryl was a pleasure to work with, he provided plenty of information, was open to suggestions, and gave me a piece of art that will forever grace my wall.

I give you From Sorrow To Hope.

Believe me when I say that the picture isn't near as awesome as the real work.

Very nice. I had forgotten about "Sorrow" ... wish they referenced some of these small plot elements in the modern series. And that goes for all the GLs, not just Kyle.
