I'm not trying to misunderstand, I just plain DON'T understand why TPTB felt the need to change something as significant as the death of Kyle's girlfriend and where he was at in life when it happened.

So far, we have no evidence suggesting that they changed anything about her death, except for (maybe) where it happened. Honestly, Wally West, Connor Hawke and Donna Troy never having existed affects Kyle a hell of a lot more than where Alex' fridge stood when she was stuffed into it.

Nobody would take this sitting down if Marvel made a big retcon out of where and how Gwen Stacy died because of how much it would change.

According to current Marvel continuity, Peter Parker hadn't been bitten yet when the World Trade Center got attacked.
Just to put things in perspective.

Which is another reason why I stated DC should run with a monthly Secret Files and Origins book, then we wouldn't have to speculate the smaller details to the point we're tired of thinking about it.

I agree that such a book would be helpful. But until we get such a book or confirmation inside one of the existing titles, there is absolutely no point in speculating what might and what might not have happened.

And it would be different if we were told by a creator we'd get the full story later on, but we haven't and we probably won't. I doubt TPTB will care enough to go back and tell an origin story with any kind of meat to it for quite awhile in the new universe.

Wait and see.

With Donna AND Jade apparently being wiped/written out of the DCU, wiping out Alex too wouldn't make one lick of sense.

Wait, isn't Jade being tested by Soranik in the GLC book? I thought she was back but since Kyle was pushed to a diffrent book we won't get any resolution to the relationship problems until the next major crossover.....

Anyway, so long as Alex did exists and was shoved into that god-forsaken refrigerator I am fine with a shift of locations. Kyle, the angry female comic fans and Sears all need that to have happened.

Hopefully we'll see more of Kyle's past play out later on in New Guardians since Tony mentioned wanting to do some grounded Earth based stuff with Kyle later in the first year of the series.

Kyle mentioned in Voodoo #3 he's from California, so maybe Alex was killed in some way and Kyle just moved out to NY shortly after. Not being a fan of Major Force, I wouldn't mind if she died in a car wreck or something not involved with superheroes or villains.
