Heh, the minute Kyle shows up, the blue rings will be supercharged and they just have hope the Reach loses and bam, it's over.

Sneak Peek at "The Battle for Odym"

On May 16th, Blue Beetle #9 will be on sale and see the start of the "Fall of the Blue Lanterns" storyline. Featuring Blue Beetle Jaime Reyes, Green Lantern Kyle Rayner and his New Guardians cast, and the ever so evil alien race known as The Reach, this story will continue into New Guardians #9 and through to at least #10. Writer of both series, Tony Bedard coined it "The Battle for Odym" as the Blue Lanterns will be defending their homeworld against The Reach. New Blue Beetle artist Marcio Takara has already started working on the crossover storyline. Below is a page of his pencils featuring some of the NG cast and Blue Beetle.

Gah! Can anyone draw Kyle's mask properly anymore?!

Regardless, I'm very much looking forward to this. I doubt it'll get rid of the BLC for good, though.

This is how the mask should be:

I thought the crab mask wasn't supposed to have a nose piece?

No, that's not how the mask is supposed to look. Check out Darryl Banks' art on Vol. 3. That is how the mask is drawn correctly.

Thats my point, it looks better with the "nose piece".

I like his mask with the way Tyler draws it. I like the way he draws Kyle in general. It fits the character.

I have to admit I agree, its not just artist interpretation, but maybe Kyle in his inexperience originally designed the crab mask, that obviously messed with his peripheral vision. With it more streamline across his nose and face, he can see better, but the essence of the original is still there.

With the "Crab Mask", I always felt it looked like Kyle had to shift his nose to a pocket dimension in order to wear it. This problem was often exaggerated to unfortunate degrees by artists that didn't know how to draw it properly, but I felt it looked that way even when Banks drew it.
