  • Favorite ION Symbol POLL!

Pretty basic question, I was just wondering what everybody else's thoughts were? I could take either one honestly, I've always thought with the "Torchbearer" label the first could have the circle spewing fire-like energy to actually resemble a torch. I loved the Lee symbol [no clue why it's on Alan now, unless Ion will now just have a standard GL symbol in the New52 universe] and it even looked pretty good on Sodam Yat, and the symbol that seemed to only be on the Ion maxi covers and t-shirt designed by Reis was awesome when drawn properly.

But which one was your favorite?

I like the second SYMBOL best. But I liked Ion's first incarnation best.

The Sodam one. The first one looks like a stick figure, and the third one's too complicated for my taste, where as Ion 2 has a nice basic shape.

Bear in mind, that second symbol was part of Kyle's post-Ion GL uniform before it got Geoffconned into the actual markings appearing on the Ion entity.

It's the one I have tattooed on my arm, but I wonder what with Alan sporting it now if the Ion symbol won't be reretconned into a standard GL symbol, just maybe a different color? Or possibly a symbol like in the Arkham City JL prequel concept art like....

Yeah, Alan's use of the symbol in Earth 2 definitely makes it GL-centric, rather than taken from a giant space whale...at least in that universe.

Never really thought about it, but Jim Lee's Kyle was definitely my favorite look of Kyle's (except for the soul patch—shave or grow a beard but not a baby beard), so I'll go with (B).

The first one is a little too "on the nose". It's a big lowercase "i". The second one is too generic. It really could be anyone's nonstandard GL symbol (there used to be a ton of those around). And the third always confused me. Maybe it was just the way it was drawn, but the negative space got muddled with the shadows all the time and I never could make the symbol out quite right.

I guess I like the second most.

edit: gettingconfused with he look of that symbol's and the one in the interior art. Definately not Kyle's most consistamnt look and didn't help at all with my confusion at the time. Makes me dislike it even more ...

I really like the symbol from the Arkham City prequel concept art for GL and thought about using it. I'm kinda stumped at just making a brand new one since the Lee symbol went down the entity's spine. If they retconned it into the plain symbol then just a recolored symbol would suffice. I am trying to come up with something though....

You know, it's funny but I was just playing The Force Unleashed and noticed that the goal to each level on the map looks a lot like Kyle's symbol where it's all together (like in Ion Fan's sig).

turn it 90° counter clock wise and it's Barth Vader's spaceship...

Starting to remind me of the Blue Lantern logo.

I voted for the second one as I like that it looks similar to the GL symbol.

I'd actually like to see a come back of the first Ion costume, but only if Kyle would wear it as a Guardian of the Universe representing Willpower while bearing Ion. Then the other bearers of the entities would also have a similar outfit representing their respective emotion.
