The latest issue of GLC spoiled why Larfleeze would want to help Kyle. The 3rd army attacks them, prompting his aid.

So far it looks decent. But it'll probably be very rushed.

A scene is shown "Two Years Ago" right after Kyle receives his ring, and is taken to Oa (to train with Kilowog) and Ganthet isn't the only surviving guardian. Sayd is with him. Other Lanterns are seen flying in the background as well.

Yup, that's about the biggest retcon possible for Kyle's origin. Makes one wonder why, in this new continuity, Kyle got a ring at all. The GLC was a going concern, there was no obvious emergency, and his Sector had three GLs already...

ET seems to be completely gone, and as many problems as I had with it, I can't say I'm particularly pleased about that.

Yeah, that does kinda suck. But it also gets rid of Rebirth, which I am particularly pleased about.

As for why Kyle was even chosen, I'm guessing there was still some kind of crisis (hence the dead Guardians and GLs), and the flashback in #15 just took place a short while later.

No, the new one contradicts the old one. Ganthet clearly says he is the last in that one, but in this new one, Sayd is there. And there's no sign of the destruction. And Kyle has apparently JUST become a GL, so it can't be much later.
