I'm a little shocked the old Ion (and Parallax) costumes were shown at all, honestly. This comic gives me continuity whiplash. First we're shown his old costume and ET/his origin seemingly sorta intact. Then we're shown his arrival on OA to be traine dby Kil. Now we're given a nostalgiafest of most of his old costumes.
It may have been a wise move to omit Ion 1.0 from the compilation. It brings in a lot of baggage with it - John in the wheelchair, Kyle meeting his father, and the Guardian Babies .... none of which I think actually happens in the New 52.

Given that the first lantern seems to be big on "What if?" type storytelling, I'm inclined to assume that we could looking at "alternate" version in the case of ones that don't fit the current continuity.

And most of all, a big, fat, obvious way for an in-story character to reset a whooooole bunch of crap. Catching the theme so far? The First Lantern has to gather enough power to be able to change the actual past, not just reference it through memory.
He'll be successful.
And he'll reset all sorts of things.
And in doing so, establish the blank slate (for lack of a better term) for the next round of writers.
And then when he's shot his wad, in comes Black Lantern Hal, the greatest Black Lantern, to deep six this guy and put us back in the saddle with the replacement guardians that have been so conveniently placed in the Chamber of Shadows. I'll bet a delicious root beer that somewhere in there, Ganthet is restored as well.
It's like I'm psychic! Sign me up, DC!

The term "constellations" doesn't sound very linear to me. I still think it is possible that he is showing not just what was, but what could have been, unless you feel the dialog is specific enough about exactly what is being shown to preclude that possibility. I haven't actually read the issue, just the preview.
