And thus, we get the fourth same damned issue in a row, this time swapping in Carol Ferris. Ugh.

      And Larfleeze. Don't forget Larfleeze!

Probably see bits on Saint Walker and Arkillo, too. Maybe Indigo-1, though the indigos seem to have dropped off the face of the DCU after being built up as a big part to the solution of the evil Guardians- and then doing nothing at all.

What were you expecting? We've known that since the solicts that The First Lantern was going to torture everyone one by one.

Would have been nice if there was some more variety to how it went. I would have liked some more sense of some of the characters fighting back semi-effectively, showing us a glimpse of SOME kind of chinks in the First Lantern's armor.

As it stands, it is seeming like the First Lantern basically is easily overcoming everybody, and has no weaknesses at all. Going to make the resolution kind of sudden, and hard to believe, if he's basically unstoppable, irresistable, and unfazed by anything anybody does, until the very last issue of the event.

Is it really going to just come down to a Deus Ex Machina Hal Jordan leading an army of the dead against him? Which would be effective...why? Didn't work too well for Nekron...

I dunno. This storyline just feels repetetive in the same way that Blackest Night did, with the same story told over and over with different characters. Except in Blackest Night, revisiting the characters' pasts, through the revived dead, had a bit more weight to it, since the characters actually HAD pasts that were known and recognizeable.

Now we are "revisiting" pasts that aren't like the pasts we knew, and showing "changes" to them that might as well be their actual pasts, since they are just as unfamiliar (heck, in John's case, his "alternate" past as an architect, is more familiar than his new "real" one).

It's like the flipside of Blackest Night, with people being tortured with their pasts by the White light, instead of the Black. If the First Lantern is brought down by Black Lantern Hal, the circle will be complete, and not in a good way, IMHO.

I'm with you. Same format at Blackest Night, smaller scale. Fucking repetitive as hell, and repeating something that blows the first time.

Making it up as we go along. Jordan was NEVER a Navy flier. (Air Force, maybe, depending on the version of history.) What are they doing on a carrier? And why, even in the 21st century, would Carol outrank him?

                Three...more...months...

The power of will is found at the deepest level of your being. It's more than mere rules. It's a duty that you must honor.

Yeah, but I didn't think that "everyone" included the readers.

Well, that's an alternate reality where Carol's dad dies and her company was bought out by someone else. So this isn't really a retcon.

How amusing, Big V looked down on Avarice, when he's the greediest of them all for emotions and drama.

I'm not apart of the "everyone" then because I'm not being tortured. I don't have a problem with the stories.

Blackest Night was Shakespeare compared to this.

The stories, one by one, would be okayish. But the repetition makes this the literature equivalent of Chinese water torture.

I liked the cover for this issue. I was thinking, "What the hell! Is Volthoom some kind of perv, trying to grope/cop a feel on Carol?"

Anyway, as I have stated in a post elsewhere, while I find the "Wrath of the First Lantern" arc disappointing so far (with the exception of Red Lanterns), I find it interesting, the alternate realities of the main characters.

I expected Volthoom to be the Chuck Norris of Green Lantern comics; raising some hell throughout the issues, kicking ass and taking names.\

Personally, I do not think that Hal Jordan will ever be a Black Lantern. he can't be-- the Black Lanterns are EVIL. There is no way Hal Jordan will ever go bad. The people at DC just threw that bit in the Book of the Black "HAL JORDAN WILL BE THE GREATEST BLACK LANTERN" as a red herring.
Do not think that this ends here... The history of light and shadow will forever be written in blood!
