    Way back in the New Guardians (during the first 3 issues), Kyle Rayner attempted to wield all 7 rings. I have a theory as to why he did not become a White Lantern right there:

    A possible reason that Kyle Rayner did not become a White Lantern right there is because Kyle Rayner did not have all 7 rings (as the Avarice ring was just a decoy sent by Agent Orange a la Glomulus). That is most likely what caused the other rings to overload.

    I can not believe that this ONLY recently clicked...
    Do not think that this ends here... The history of light and shadow will forever be written in blood!

      Well, that does actually make sense. It makes enough sense that you could say if they had gone the other route and made him a WL in issue #1, you should complain that he didn't really have an orange ring.

        This theory was stated the same day the issue came out, because he lacked the Avarice sign.

          I did not see it either, but I thought that maybe it was on his back or something like that.
