  • Kyle will remain White for the foreseeable future.

    http://www.comicbookresources.com/?p...ticle&id=45656

Are you planning to keep Kyle as the White Lantern throughout your run?

I have no plans to have him as anyone but the White Lantern for the foreseeable future.
    Ho hum.

The title of this thread made me chuckle
I LOVE conspiracy theorists. They are like human versions of the cymbal clapping, dancing monkeys. No one takes them all that seriously and they get bored with them after about 10 minutes.

Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it. "Foreseeable future" isn't that far out when it comes to comics.

Not really surprised, given the end of Wrath of the First Lantern. If he was going to lose the powers short term, it'd have been there, (never mind the future glimpse stuff). Given that Kyle becoming a White Lantern had pretty much naff all to do with the resolution of that story, I'll be happy to see the idea explored a little. It sounds like they're talking about going into what it means to be a White Lantern, which seems like an interesting angle for now, as long as they actually make the ring's abilities distinct and interesting.

As an aside, I do find it interesting how it seemed like there was a push to make Hal and Baz the only GLs, at least for a while. There's Kyle as White Lantern, Guy moving over to the Reds, and John was rumoured to be getting killed off (until he wasn't). DC attempting to shift things around a bit and thin the ranks of the Earth-based GLs?

I believe it. Jordan's interviews make it pretty clear that he's taking Johns' epilogue as gospel. It'll probably change some time in the future, but I think this first round of new talent won't dare to retcon the great and powerful Johns (which is really, really ironic).

First thing I would do would send the new recruit from GL #20's framing story back in time and changing things, butterfly effect style. And then Hal would make a mistake leading to his fan's death. Hal's reputation needs to be tarnished. Not Emerald Twilight levels, but he's too infallible right now. That must not last. Also, it would show that the future is not set in stone. Which is necessary for future stories.

If this is the case, then DC should change the title to White Lantern. What Green Lantern is starring in the comic?

I think I'd just call it New Guardians. White Lantern doesn't have near the same ring as Green Lantern to me. And yeah, I'm under the impression that DC doesn't want too many Earth Green Lanterns around, which could have been more incentive to kill John. Johns would have replaced him with his own brown skinned minority guy, and since Johns just had to create him, John Stewart would have to go.

Man, that is disgusting if that was the reality of the situation.

Sounds like GL may remain unreadable for a while even with Johns gone.

I'm glad. I think WL Kyle is cooler.

I'm up for a few years of White Lantern Kyle stories, and maybe a DC Direct and/or DCUC WL Kyle fig. Since his inception, Kyle has always been written as set apart. I think it's fitting that DC has made room to reintroduce Hal while elevating Kyle back to greater-than-an-average-GL status. That's the great thing about the GL titles: there are plenty of characters to go around.

It won't be forever, so enjoy the ride while it lasts. He'll come back to the status quo eventually.
