you know, I've thought several times that I'd have liked the pairing better if Natu was a boy. It might have been cheesy the same, but at least less idealized and more.. unexpected..?

Iolande with Natu or Boy!Natu with Kyle would have been awesome. I guess Natu just works better as a lesbian or a gay man

I'm sure many disagree, but I like the romantic and 'un-hero' side of things. I think its a very underscored part of super hero life. We see the struggle the hero goes through to beat the foe. But we never see the struggle of the hero to be the hero. Like many things out there, the glory is seen, but not the struggle.

I liked Donna, and while re-reading, I felt for Kyle as Alex was killed. I thought Jenny was a great girl for him, but it pretty much shot any chance of a secret identity. "Hrmm..green hero former super-model has a new boyfriend. Wait..she is now partnered with Green Lantern...nah..." But it is the comic world, much like a pair of glasses kept everyone from seeing Clark was Superman, despite being around Lois all the time.

Anyway... bottom line, I like it. It makes Kyle and others relatable. And for the Kyle haters out there, I think he's been around long enough that we can stop calling him a temporary thing.

The way Kyle acts in love is actually a big part of why I adore him. I love the romantic aspect of his personality and so I have no problem with putting him in relationships. It's just when that's ALL that seems to be going for him, plus the quality of the relationship being something I can't really ...get into, that bothers me.

I really love Alex, Donna and Jenny. All three girls also had similar qualities and approaches to a relationship, though they had slightly different personalities. He's very compatible with all three, and it seems like his life was too hectic (or THEIR life was too hectic, in Donna's case) for it to truly work out.

I'm in the same boat, I ... almost don't care for who's more powerfull, badass, suits and stuff, I want the men and women behind the masks and cowls. I want to care about them as people, not only symbols of a superhuman power or something like that. So you might be the minority, but definitely not alone =)

Mh..I'm by no mean a Kyle hater, more of a lover actually, but I feel like being a "temporary" thing was part of what made his character interesting, just like putting him in a space cop position after the return of Hal - that I have nothing against -makes him. Well. Boring. At least to me. ^^;
(I still hold hope it was just Tomasi sucking at writing him, yet, Kyle as a space cop still doesn't sound completely right to me.)

But we are drifting off-topic.

Well, had the stupid 3rd law stayed, Kyle giving up the ring and becoming Natu's housewife in skimpy outfits while she's aways doing the job could have been interesting.

She could have told him a thousand times again to paint more ! : D

I for one like the Natu relationship. Like many people have said in this thread, its not only the superpowers that make the person who they are and why we like them; but the way they act as a regular human or non superpowered being. With a relationship going on you get to see the characters evolve into something that they wouldn't have if not for that one bad thing that happened between the two in the relationship. Same goes with a friendship same basic concept. I mean take for instance when Kyle sacrificed himself to try to kill off the black lanterns in GLC #42 Natu is really upset and is trying to everything she can to bring him back to life. While Guy flips his shit and becomes a red lantern outta the rage of his friend being killed. So if you want a story with no relationships then should include friendships cuz they are a form of relationship and that, to me, just takes out a good part of the balance of a story.

I don't like it. What's the only notable thing after John and Katma hooked up that John was a part of? His alien wife died and his only shot at a series of his own was Mosaic....

I don't want Kyle to go down this path. Has Natu came out about being Sinestro's daughter?

I'd rather have Kyle back on Earth and dating a non-super powered female who knows NOTHING about super heroes.
