  • 10 Things I Want To See In The Live Action Film

Some of these are obvious to any self respecting GL fan, but some have a meaning I may not share with others. It was a close call on including "The Sign" on the list, and I do want to see it in the film as well.

My personal comments on this list. Some of these would be difficult to work in as "Easter Eggs".

#10-(Krona's crime)While I might like to see this at some point, I don't really expect to see it in the first movie (at MOST a passing mention if there is some kind of backstory on why the GLC was formed, but even that I'd rather leave out here).

#9-(Controllers/Zamarons)This is just so inaccessible to any non-GL fan (they don't even look like each other- not even remotely) that to include it would just be a confusing distraction, IMHO. If they ever do, I would hope they didn't try to bring all the Malthusian offshoots in at the same time, as it would be a hopeless mess. It might be interesting to focus on one of these for some future movie, but some serious changes would probably have to be made.

#8-(Qwardians)A simple mention might work out as a cool, geeky reference. This would work well as an Easter Egg.

#7-(Emotional Spectrum)Absolutely not. Even though I've been mostly enjoying the comic, I don't want to see this concept anywhere near a movie. Parallax I could handle, but the whole spectrum, I think that would cause the movie franchise to go down in flames.

#6-(Book of Oa)Oh we BETTER see this. It could be such a cool visual, even if they felt the need to "tech" it up. I'd prefer the simplicity of a big, honkin' tome, though. There's just something about having these hyper-advanced aliens accessing records through something that LOOKS so ancient and mysterious.

#5-(Ring interface)I'm not sure exactly what you mean by this. We are obviously going to be seing the ring do a lot of stuff, and I'd love to see it doing all the stuff you mention, and more.

#4-(Alan Scott)From what I hear, this is a shoo-in. I could have done without it, but I'm plenty happy to have at least a cameo by him.

#3-(Manhunters)You are right that they could work in a brief history of the Guardians. I'm just not sure that I want them to even go into that at this point. I say leave the Guardians mostly a mystery unless some aspect of their history is going to be an important plot point. IMHO, we don't need to waste screen time recapping the Guardians' history if it isn't going to be a driving force in the plot.

#2-(Mogo)Another potential great Easter Egg. I'd love to see Mogo (or any of a number of other familiar GLs) in the background even if they have no speaking roles. In fact, when I think Easter Eggs for geeky fanboys, like me, in a GL movie this is almost entirely what I would be looking for. Seeing Rot Lop Fan in the background (even if I could only catch it pausing the DVD) would be cool.

#1-(Parallax)Unless they are planting seeds for a movie that will utilize this concept heavily, I'd say leave it alone. Bringing it up at all (or even seeing such a thing visually in the CPB) would just be confusing and distracting if there wasn't a firm plan in place to use it further down the road, IMHO. And I really don't want it to be a big part of an origin movie (which it won't, if what I've heard is accurate).

When it comes to Krona, the Controllers and Zamaronians, Emotional Spectrum and Manhunters, I would expect that to happen in an opening montage during the opening credits, leading up to Abin Sur crashing on earth. As for Parallax, I would be satisfied with the silhoutte of a bug-looking creature while showing the CPB.

It might be asking too much.

I was about to answer this and then I realize it's for a "GL" live action movie...well I want that stuff here too.

I think that list is asking for wayyyyyyyyyyy to much, if you put even half those things in the movie, you are gonna go way over the average movie goers head, and lets face it, that's what your after.

I mean Joe Fanboy is going to see the movie regardless. If you cram that much stuff in it, your gonna loose your audience of new comers. I think the book is probably the only thing worth mentioning in the list.

I never said these things need to be prominent. Most of these can be included without a spoken reference. Many can be shown when Hal learns some about the history of the corps which could be done through the book. I don't see people losing interest in the franchise cause there was stuff they don't know about certain things, if anything it would create interest in GL.

I suppose it could work in a quick ring download to his brain. Flashes of history and bits and pieces of the Corps history. I thought you meant for these things to have so much significance to the story line.

Well in the first draft Script I have Sinestro explains to Hal about the emotional spectrum, it's quick just a couple of lines but it is in there.

Like people have said, putting in all this stuff is going to confuse people, and the best way to turn this into a franchise is to get as many people seeing it, and enjoying it, as possible. And if they use it all in some sort of half-assed montage, or passing reference, you're going to be disappointing fans who probably want to see these things dealt with right. Lets just have them make a good origin tale without overburdening everyone with the entirety of the GL mythos in one go. Because really, only two of these things are absolute (ring interface, Book of Oa).

In the script draft I read (Likely the same one as Andrea), I found the ring interface surprisingly missing, though it didn't detract from the story at all. I wonder if that's something that was perhaps added in rewrites. Either way, I don't think it's crucial for the story.

Also, if I remember correctly (I could be wrong) there's some kind of montage of Hal gaining a bunch of cosmic knowledge in there.
