"I have already told my wife if with have a son his name is to be Kyle"
I like Hal Jordan more than most, but there is no way in hell I'm naming my son Harold, Martin, or Jordan.
Nor Guy, nor John, nor Kyle, nor Alan!!! Of course, that Alan thing has more to do with my brother...
BUT YOU GET MY POINT!!!
Which G.L. is to the left?
Hal's the Man for a number of reasons.
His origin is epic. He wasn't bitten by a radioactive spider. He didn't receive a super-soldier injection. He didn't become a superman under the yellow Earth sun. No. Hal Jordan was chosen by a dying superhero to become one of many.
His costume is great. It's simple yet - give or take shoulder points, leotard, pitch blackness, and projected insignia - it's become fairly versatile.
He has the coolest job of all Earth's Lanterns. Insurance investigator and toy salesman notwithstanding, Hal Jordan is a pilot whether it be for testing, commercialism, or military.
He is an Everyman. Despite what Kyle's old spin doctors would have you think, Hal Jordan can be both inspiring and relatable. He essentially passed the job interview in his origin. One of many who share the same name, tools, duties, and superiors, he's had the burden of making himself stand out. And, as a civilian, he's had what most superheroes don't but what many of us do: siblings.
He's been bread and butter for the other Terran Corpsmen since their origins. John was ebony to his familiar ivory. Guy had to show Leagues that their original co-founder wasn't needed while he and his G'nort were around. And Kyle inherited cred, team-ups, and angst aplenty from his shadow alone.
What's more very dang poll I've ever seen in Wizard's Magazine and on any forum is more or less split 50/50 yet certain memebers of either camp always shout their GL is the more popular one.
