  • What makes Sinestro worthy of wielding the White Light?

Aside from his infantile "You got your chance Hal, give me mine!" reasoning in BN#7 (which was VERY similar to Luthor wanting Scarecrows "chance"), why else should Sinestro get to wield the White Light?

What has he done lately that qualifies him for this power? Let's see:

    - He joined Hal and the Skittle Brigade out of necessity.
    - He would have killed Carol back when they were fighting if not for intervention.
    - He killed Laira
    - His Corps killed countless #s of innocent people
    - He fucked Kyle up and indirectly caused the death of Jack T Chance
    - He would have destroyed the Guardians if he could
    - Would have killed Kyle and Ollie in GL: Rebirth if Hal hadn't showed up.

So I'm seeing a lot of killing here...and not much else. Sure, he may be trying to "better the Universe" through force, but all he's really accomplished is killing a bunch of people.

Am I missing something here? Did I miss a panel where he saved a baby from a cat in a tree or something?

Does it amount to anything more than Sinestro just being greedy? Or is it too early to tell?

I think this entire story is moronic, but my guess is that "life" doesn't really care about human concepts of morality, it just accepts life in all of its forms, be it heroic Green Lanterns or maniacs like Sinestro. The entity sensed life in Sinestro and bonded to that life force, regardless of his morality.

after reading BN #7, i would not say Sinestro "earned" the right, but rather forcfully took it for himself, much like Hal was intending to do.

Yeah that's basically exactly how I see it. Life is weak

I think it is way too early to tell right now. I mean we have yet to see him do anything with the white light. But then again what difference does it make who the white light went into? I mean it isn't like Hal controlled Parallax. I think Ion pretty much helped/let Kyle and Yat do as they pleased but could have taken over at any time.

The way the rings choose a bearer and the way the Entity attaches itself seem to be different.

THe rings look for the presence or the ability to instill the particular emotion....while the entity will attach itself to one who one who shows said emotion, but more like a weakness. Parallax attaches itself when the target shows fear....as it did with hal, Kyle and Ganthet.

The ring seems to be more rigid in its choices than the Entity....thus, it could stand to reason that the Entity could attach itself to anyone provided they meet the criteria in some fashion.

The fact that Sinestro was able to bond and given his speech on the Guardians...it seems unlikely that the white light represents "Life"....perhaps it represents "Justice"...

I just find it funny how, potentially, the fate of all Life in the Universe rests in the hands of a Fascist Dictator who will kill people without a second thought. Actually, maybe that's exactly what Life needs right now.

Another question: Will having The Entity change Sinestros personality like Parallax did Hal?

Nothing makes Sinestro worth it. However, being that the thing was on the verge of being destroyed, and it needed a host to fight back, I'd be pretty sure it'd take who it could get. If that man is an extraordinary Lantern, however, which Sinestro always was, then so be it.

Probably not. Parallax was based on a single, overpowering emotion. This "White Light" crap is just emotion pre-cut. Raw. Undefined in it's emotion, therefore having no emotion to become dominant in the host.

Yeah you're probably (hopefully!) right. I'd hate to see Sinestro go all Pro-Life Hippie on us...

He's less Sinestro than he was an issue ago already, I just hope the slide stops ASAP.

Sure hes a fascist totalitarian killer but originally all he was was a dictator that controlled his worlds through fear, not a bad guy, a lil twisted but he does appreciate order! i think all the black lanterns created disorder in the universe and he will be there as he always have to bring order back either through fear, the white light whatever
The Daleks you have the ability to instill great Fear welcome to the Sinestro Corps.
