  • AIDS in the Red Lantern Corps?

All that blood being spit up and vomitted around by all of them, isn't the threat of HIV/AIDS astronomical if you were in the Red Lantern Corps?

First: AIDS is a Syndrome... in full, its actually called Acquired Imuno-Defeciency Syndrome... so you don't catch AIDS, but rather you get it as the result of HIV as it slowly destroys you're immune system, making you vulnerable to all sorts of stuff.

Second: HIV comes from chimps and mangabey located in Africa, here on Earth... so unless some African chimp or mangabey, or HIV positive person (like Mia Dearden) from Earth were to become a Red Lantern... it will not be even the remotest issue.

          And?

That was not the question Achernosis presented... he specifically asked about HIV/AIDS.

And so I gave him a very direct answer.

The Red vomit out all of their blood anyway. Didn't you read the comic? They vomit out their "tainted blood". And then it's replaced by ring-power.

Now, anyone who visited Yasmault on the other hand, would have to watch out for that big pool of blood near their CPB.

The bloods replaced by the 'liquid fire' of the red light, and viruses can't survive that kind of thing

And seriously, with the average lifespans of RLs, you think they're worried about cosmic AIDS?

Now rabies, on the other hand...

Does the AIDS virus need oxygen to survive? There's no oxygen in space anyway. The end.

But this brings me to a question I thought up the other day. If the Red Lanterns are vomitting out their blood and replacing it with burning rage energy, does that mean if they remove the red rings and give up being a Red Lantern, would they die?

While it hasn't happened yet ... yes, I'd say it does. Their heats stop and the ring replaces it. And then they vomit all their blood and get it rplaced by ring energy. So, either it kills you, or at the least puts you at death's door.

This is why I think "mastering all emotions and going into the White Light" is BS. You can't master something like that. It ruins you.

That would fall into the rabies as Torchbearer suggested.
