It's been implied in the past that Laira will become a GL again at some point. So losing the RL powers isn't going to kill her. We have been told though that it's going to leave her scared, physicaly and I would also assume mentally.

My gut tells me probably they don't die (since we might/probably see a Red Lantern or two redeemed at some point). It just quickly replaces the rage energy in their veins with regular blood. Or something. Probably leaves them with a killer headache or something.
I wasn't really under the impression that they have much of a choice in becoming a Red Lantern. The ring seemed to choose Laira and take her over before she had a chance to realize what was happening. It pretty much controls her know that she has it too.

Considering we're dealing with aliens with advanced technology [Power Rings anyone?] I would say they would treat HIV/AIDS like we in the real world would treat the common cold. Take your medicine, stay in bed for a few days and your better.

Somehow I doubt it, no matter whether you're from Ungarra, Apokolips, Talos IV or Tamaran, if you don't have any blood in your body, you're gonna die pretty quickly, unless you get the mother of all transfusions

The way it describes the ring, it sounds like they'd die. I guess we'll find out eventually.

This is as bad as the RL Time of the month thread. Wait, no... nothing compares to that nonsense.

somewhat of a legit question but more so on a wider scale. but maybe their rings protect them.

we would simply have to ask DC cause nobody here could give a truthful or factual answer.

see how I just cleared all that up.

I'm thinking that "tainted blood" is a metaphor for Compassion, and reasoning, because when one is filled with rage, these two things go bye bye

That would fall into the rabies as Torchbearer suggested.
