It's a Hal and Barry event so far, for me. Not a bad thing, since Geoff writes them well.

I guess the distinction I would draw between this one and more conventional DC events are the absence of any substantive role by the Big Three, and also, oddly enough, that Blackest Night is more character driven than other DC events of recent times.

I guess the idea that it's a Hal event is reinforced by the fact that GL ties into Blackest Night so closely - they pick up virtually the panel the other left off. I don't think it's a Green Lantern event so much because the GL Corps have been confined to GLC - no mention of them in the title books. Contrast this to the Sinestro Corps War, where the Corps felt like active participants in the main story.

I do think Blackest Night is about to explode though, the ending of the last issue was quite good.

The previous two being?

1) Millenium (ARRRRGGGHH!!! I went and typed its name......its evil name......and it burns my fingers doing so!!!) was HEAVILY influenced by GL-related events & characters

2) and the *1st*......was Crisis on Infinite Earth. think about it: [a] the Universe was split into "an infinite number of variants" due to Krona's action; [B] they have the big fight at the formation of The Big Hand -event (which the Guardians & GLC guarded closely since nobody was supposed to see The Moment of ALL's -creation); [c] the Monitor was born on Oa's moon (and the AM on Qwards); [d] 1 of the biggest & most important battles was fought by (and over) Qwards moon by the GLC; [e] and of course there were all of those Thunderers who were conscripted to work for the AM since he took over Qward..........and lastly [f] GL was pretty much the *only title* that actually dealt with anything Anti-Monitor -related during, and showing the fallout immediately after, the CoIE was over (every other book dealt with the strangeness going on, or some of the anomalies, as opposed to direct action like GL.)

now, I'll grant I overlooked Zero Hour, but that cuz I feel that story was more of a "Hal Jordan is the big baddie", rather than being "GREEN LANTERN & things from its mythos" -centric.

It's a DCU event, and I have no idea why anyone thought it was just going to be GL. Throughout the entirety of the previews and hype, all I kept hearing is how it's going to change death in the DCU forever. In order for that to happen, it needs to be DC wide, which it is.

Why did you think that? It hasn't been a secret that it would be a DC event. Even before the SCW they were saying that.
