I liked the issue and I could tell that Johns is familiar with Arab American culture because he set the story in Dearborn and he brought up that the Arabic tat was "haram"/forbidden in Islam. Simon's sister was wearing hijab and being persecuted for it. Interesting that the ring registered an error in choosing Baz but still choose him. I would have liked a bit more Third Army but I gave it a four in the poll.

Hmm. Shouldn't this sub-forum now be renamed "Volume 5/Simon Baz/Hal Jordan/Sinestro"?

How about just annother section named "Simon Baz". Then we change this section GL:vol.5/Hal Jordan to GL:Vol.5/Hal Jordan/Sinestro.

That's nothing new. They've claimed in other sources over the past year that Hal's first appearance was in JL 2011. I'm guessing it's for newbies.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. It's one more "subtle" step toward newbs writing "Geoff Johns, the creator of Green Lantern."

Well that's unfortunate. One of DC's really great characters has been neutered by DCnU's kewlness makeovers. Cause you know, comics needs more hot women. That one I won't lay at the feet of the GL creative team though, just indicative of what's wrong with DC these days.

The who's who entry is pretty consistent with DC's past first appearances notes. Take Superman. After Crisis, it was the Man of Steel (the miniseries) #1, not Action Comics #1. This is pretty in-line with that way of thinking. Someone in the editing department just messed up and forgot GL continuity hasn't changed since Vol 4. I don't think it's a big deal.

And I find it sad that Waller has to be thin to be effective in the DCNu.

It's for a purpose Dave. Waller is going to meet some hot guy, fall in love, then get cheated on and dumped. Then we'll follow her into a spiral of depression and self-loathing nursed by an all consuming need to eat fried chicken. She will balloon up and gain 100lbs, becoming clinicly obese. Then they'll do a psuedo "whatever the hell Obamas wifes fitness shtick is" and she'll get back into shape and defeat the evil monster of Obesity. Maybe even go on a psychological journey through O.B. City. It will all be very touching and help the American children.

i just read the issue alittle while ago and i dont know how to feel about it. None of it really made me like the issue that much although some parts were interesting i just rather have hal back. call me old fashioned. :/

I only read 1 issue of Suicide Squad when it crossed over with Resurrection Man but I still read about it lol. She's also going to be in Team 7
