The bit about Kyle being an artist or a gamer was my favorite part of the issue.

I'm with Dave on this one. I buy Green Lantern to read about Hal Jordan not other characters. When the new volume was released I gave it a shot even though I wasn't thrilled about the direction of it. After 12 issues and an annual I decided that I was done with it.

This book has become boring, predictable and it basically is just repeating themes, story elements, from the previous run. I don't want to read about the Skittles Corps, the Evil Guardians or their new plan to create yet another corps to substitute the previous one. Now we have another war looming, how many times are we supposed to read the same thing over and over again?
I dropped the book after the annual, I’m not interested in reading about Johns’ new pet character, especially if it’s at the expense of my favorite and the whole thing reads like a bad after-school special. The whole background story is almost 10 years too late, and at this point one have to rethink a lot of things considering the situation in the Middle East. When a book reads as preachy as O’Neill and Adams’ Hard-Traveling Heroes in this day and age is time to let it go.

To be honest with you guys, I don’t miss the book. I’m reading a lot of indie titles lately and I’m actually looking forward to go to my LCS again. Heck, I count the days until the release of the next issue of certain books. We don’t need to buy from the Big 2 anymore, these days we have a lot of options. Since this big corporations only understand money I decided to vote with my wallet, no more GL for me until we have a new direction (new writer).

Green Lantern has the potential to be a ground-breaking science fiction book but it just being a mediocre, cheesy, boring and predictable space soap opera. Until we get something great again, I’m out..

I love how the biggest thing we got out of the issue was that Hal Jordan was Parallax'd three years into being a GL and Kyle is the only Earth GL who hasn't been unmasked.

We don't know that Hal became Parallax anymore. There's no proof of that in the New 52, or of the entities' existence in general. All we know is that something horrible happened to the Corps (and the CPB was not destroyed!), and Ganthet gave Kyle a brand-new ring (not Hal's old ring).

Didn't Krona show Hal in WotGL that the Guardians were planning on taking Hal out again, since he survived Parallax? It was the along the same sequence of showing Ganthet and the other Guardians freeing the First Lantern for the Third Army. So it's been confirmed he was Parallax, just probably didn't die in the Sun/reborn as Spectre/etc, but was still freed due to Ganthet/Kyle/JLA figuring out the whole fear entity vs crazy Hal.

I'm confused, too. Since reboot we haven't seen any character blame Hal for Parallax again. And he also hasn't shown regret for that again. When Guardians mentions him, they just say he is a threat not a former renegade. However I don't think Johns will erase the whole Parallax thing, since it's almost all his run in v4 about. And it's confirmed that Blackest Night still happened, Hal must had died once, the restoring Sun thing still exists.

WotGL was pre-New 52. So that doesn't count. And since the CPB was never destroyed, how would Hal have freed Parallax in the first place?

Blackest Night was radically altered, due to many of the main characters no longer existing (or having died) in the New 52. There's no evidence Final Night happened, and I doubt Hal's died, because he was never the Spectre.

While there's no proof that Hal became Parallax in the new 52, there's no proof he didn't either.

Right. But the burden of proof lies on evidence, not lack thereof.

I think it was just the different emotions, in GLNG #0. I could be wrong, though.

This single panel stuff feels like a way for DC to try to keep people who would otherwise drop the book around while they establish Simon. It's their call, I just choose not to participate. I'm not opposed to reading about Simon at all, just don't introduce him at the expense of another character a lot of people (not all) have cared about for decades.

I don't understand why they didn't just make Simon have his own book with Green Lantern in the title, or give Hal and Sinestro to another writer because they will sell without Geoff Johns.

Naming another writer to write Hal is never be a problem, but another writer to write post-rebirth Sinestro... I have no idea. Post-rebirth Sinestro basically is Johns' character and there were very few times that Johns let other writers to use him. I will be really interested if one day Johns really let his favorite go to another writer's hand.

He did it with the Flash. So there's some precedent, at least.
