I wish DC would release Original Graphic Novels that would feature key stories in the Green Lantern Corps history that would fit in The New 52 timeline. These would help us to know which events we knew before bear relevance today.
Simon Baz is now the new Green Lantern, but I'm still more of a Hal Jordan fan. I would really like to see Hal get the lead back in this title not in the same way issues 1-12 happened when he shares the spotlight with Sinestro. I still believe Sinestro should be back in a yellow suit.
But I will still would like to see how Simon Baz will make it to become a Green Lantern on his own. It is exciting when new characters gets introduced.

People who doubt Hal was Parallax are overthinking things. It's not like it was mentioned all the time in Vol 4 anyway. Why would they mention it out of the blue?
Reprinting old comics would be a foolhardy effort because not everything in those comics are valid anymore. Case in point, ET. ET makes no mention of space paracites and it probably mentioned Reign of the Supermen at the beginning, so to work it'd really need to be rewritten. Kyle's best stories involve Jade, Major Force, and Alan Scott and you'd need to rewrite or redraw a lot of them just to make them fit.
Blackest Night is another example. Clearly it happened, but it couldn't have happed as it was. None of the main heroes have died, Martian Manhunter never knew Hal ... not even the GL issues are the same. You can't really reprint any of it as part of the New 52.
As annoyed as we may be as fans, I think it may be even worse if they try to answer these questions. Because they'll just contradict themselves later.

Birghtest Day, however, is only mostly stable. If only because of the appearance of the Specter.

Instead of retconning things out of GL history, they'd be better off just going on and not mentioning certain things in the past again. Hell, that's a time honored tradition in comics!

Trying to nail down a consistent history that wouldn't be a giant retcon party and retelling shindig would be impossible. Hal's supposed to be brash and young AND GL is supposed to be somewhat continuing the storylines regardless of the Spew52? Whatever. Just call it already.
My money still says they're hedging their bets. If they get to push out a bunch of new stories, they coddle the balls of the writers that may be pissing and moaning about being pigeonholed by continuity all in an environment that still smells AltU to me. And as long as New 52 sells books, run with it until the steam is lost and you can essentially "reset" what you did. Enter Pandora, stretch a giant all-title event into the books, and blammo, we're back to where we were.
Personally I blame Morrison and Liefeld. Don't know why, but it's easy enough to do.
