Reminded me of Lotr return of the king plot! Luv the Baz vs Sin moment! Got a feel All the dead lanterns from Tomar to Abin will Live after the dust is cleared. Next John vs Volthoom!!!

Read the issue earlier today and it had me gripped. However, how Baz dealt with Sinn made me grin.

Great art, but the plot fell apart. Lots of confusing and contradictory elements, and I doubt they were deliberate.

But man...that Dead Zone art was fantastic!

If John becomes a Red Lantern, I will almost certainly drop Red Lanterns. I'm not thrilled about the title already, but doing that to John will be the last straw, unless somebody manages to pull off a miracle and convince me that such a move makes sense for the character, rather than just tossing an Earth GL into the title to generate interest.

Sinestro getting out didn't surprise me because of the WTF cover of New Guardians. Be interesting to see how Sinestro/Baz and the rest get out of the Tomb.

Yeah, loved that artsy stuff. I wouldn't want it all the time but for the setting and as a break from Mahnke, it was great.

Also liked that bit with B'dg staring at the black ring. Sinestro's darker side showing is good.

The story literally only inched forward. Sinestro escaped the black ring, and Hal ponders suicide in a place where it was just made plain to him that he can't die. That was it. The good news was, we actually saw Hal for more than a page, and the art for his segment of the story was great. The other segment? Not so much.

2 stars, just for not getting us anywhere.

Not much story movement in #18. Not a bad issue, but feels less than necessary.

Also confused by the new information about Volthoom. They make him our the be the source behind existence in the universe now, if that's the case then what the hell does that make The Entity? Is Volthoom life in general and The Entity sentient life?

We've been connecting the dots given that he's the only Earth GL who hasn't been mentioned in one of the books post-creative team shakeup and due to Fialkov's comments in interviews about introducing a controversial new RL.

Volthoom traveled back in time to accomplish what Krona was attempting: to witness the moment of creation. Bearing witness to the light embued him with the power of the First Lantern. It's fairly detailed.

No. Tomar said they couldn't die as long as they willed to live. Assumedly, if Hal wills/chooses to die, it'll take.
