  • Jaime Reyes: Dead and Gone, or Sticking Around?

Spawned out of a debate I read in the Justice League: Generation Lost between West and Andrew, I figured we'd take it to the polls. So, if you don't know what I'm talking about, this was the argument that was had:

Jaime is definitely going to be killed, crippled, or just otherwise will just give up the mantle. I'd bet the farm on it at this point, just by the little cues already being dropped in Generation Lost.

Ted Kord will return and replace him soon enough. I don't think Jaime will be killed, though, the foreshadowing in Brightest Day #0 nonwithstanding.

I love Jaime Reyes, he could have been HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!, he could have been DC's next big money maker. That being said I think he will end up being shot in the head like Ted Kord. Fuck off DC for spitting on his fans with this crap

I think Jamie will stick around. He's a cool character that has a presence in several books. Admittingly, I haven't been following Generation Lost, so I haven't seen any foreshadowing.

Jhons said Beetle died a hero and wasn't coming back .... for what that's worth.

I personally hope he sticks around. I loved his run.

If he's killed off then DC are just wasting a perfectly good character. Though they seem to be good at wasting characters.

I think he might stick around. I don't think he'll get killed but will probably not see him in anything much.

They're hyping him to kids by sticking him in Batman: Brave and the Bold Tv show, have toys of him, and even a children's B:BATB costume of him.

                Yo.

he's doin' ok over in TT atm, and unless A-NDB has had something whispered into his ear by a lil birdy, I wouldnt worry much about it.

hes also far more popular than Atom III (or was that IV) was......

I think he's safe for the time being. I think if Jaime weren't a big part of BTBAB, his position may be in jeopardy. As it is though, I think he will be around for awhile. If anything, they'll just make him extremely obscure so as not to tarnish the cartoon version.

If he does, it'll be in a Ryan Choi-after-Ray Palmer-came-back capacity. Little by little pushing him back until nobody really notices him anymore... then a little while after that happen, BAM, the axe comes down.

Things Jamie has that could save him if Ted comes back is:

                        1) The scarab. Ted never used it, so Jamie can still be the BB even if Ted's back. Their styles are completely different.
                        2) His age. Ted's an adult and can't be on soemthing like the Teen Titans.

I don't think they're ready to bring Ted Kord back, though. But we'll see.

If Ted comes back, how much you want to bet he'll be tapping into the Scarab this time around?

But they have already started pushing Jaime out of the Teen Titans title. You really think that when JT Krul comes aboard later this year, that he'll want Jaime on his roster of mini JLA-ers? I certainly don't.

I think Jaime stays alive, but irrelevant. He'll slowly become forgotten, but he'll be alive because there's a minority number that must be kept. And DC probably doesn't want to go the "Surge of Minority Legacy Heroes" route again, so he's "safe"

One remote possibility: Jaime sticks around to wash Ted Kord's ship and shit. Sort of what Pieface was to Hal.
