Did anyone else pick this up?

CARNAGE IS BACK! The fan-favorite villain returns to rock the Marvel Universe, with the Amazing Spider-Man and the Invincible Iron Man first on his hit list. But just why – and how – has Carnage returned, and how many of Marvel's heroes will it take to stop him? Superstar creators Zeb Wells (AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, NEW MUTANTS) and Clayton Crain (GHOST RIDER, X-FORCE) team up for the Spider-Man epic that’ll leave jaws on the floor! Literally!
I decided to pick this up because I like Carnage, and I could use a bit of Marvel in my life. First issue was pretty good, a lot of dialog, lots of action, and generally seems to be a good start for a good story. No Carnage in the first issue, Spidey, Iron Man and Doppleganger took center stage, but it was fun.

The art is definitely a change from anything DC does. It's more computer generated than anything else, but I don't mind it.

I picked up the issue, and I really enjoyed it. I thought the dialogue was strong, and the story had a good pace to it. I'm glad Wells is taking his time bringing Carnage back, instead of just dropping him in first issue. It was good to see Doppleganger again too, as I haven't seen him since Maximum Carnage.

I actually really liked the art, had a photo-realistic style to it which I think is going to look really great once Carnage pops up.

I picked it up as I've always had a soft spot for Carnage (and Venom). The art was what really drew me in - very cool stuff.

So before I start, Yall know I'm not the biggest fan of Carnage aka one the embodiments of bad crap in the 90's. That being said, if a writer can a present a good story with Carnage as the main focus, I will give credit where credit is due. The story was well written, but I have negativity. I can't stand the art in this, it's a combination of the photo realistic and the very muddy coloring on the book. I like the photo realistic style in some cases (Witch Blade for examples) it works in certain areas, but here it felt lifeless. If your a artist and your gonna draw a book with Carnage, why not just get someone who has the style.

            Overall a 2/5

Yeah, Clayton Crain is crap, especially on a Carnage book. And Zeb Wells taint too great.

That Zircher cover is pretty sweet. He really needs to draw more interiors.

I wish they would have gotten him to draw this since his style is closer to the 90's, than Clayton Crain.

Hell no. Zircher shouldn't waste his time on this.
