her sacrifice was always stupid... it's not like they have actually done anything with the starheart now under kyles power... i mean, he should have had access to it to fight off Parallax, but they've just ignored it...
i do hope they bring her back because it was possibly the most pointless death i have seen in DC for ages

Agreed, more or less. Removing Kyle as Ion basically removes any worth or point to her death to begin with. Were Kyle to stay Ion, I would absolutely say "Keep her dead"... but given the way things are playing out now they really just might as well bring her back.
Well, about Kyle and the Starheart and the Ion symbiote and all that, I see it like this:
Jade was only returning the same power that Kyle gave her when he was Ion the first time around during her death.
The way I see it, when Kyle first went up into the sun to claim the power of Ion during his first run, this is when he first became host to the Ion symbiote -- this time at full power. Midway through this run as Ion, he shared/used a bit of his power to restore Jade's Starheart abilities. Kyle later exhausted all of the power of the Ion symbiote in recreating the Guardians and the Central Power Battery on Oa and returned to being a GL... but he still had the symbiote in him (hence the reason why his Jim Lee costume, which he received immediately after his first run as Ion, and the reason the Ion whale itself is decorated with the Jim Lee GL symbol and similar costume traits from that as well). Then during the Rann Thanagar War Special when Jade died, that same power that Kyle originally used to restore Jade's powers was re-absorbed into him, which then reenergized the Ion symbiote inside Kyle to repower him up (but not be quite at the same power level as the first time around).
ugh, sorry but i really hate all this symbiote bullshit anyway... it completely ruins Hal's character for me...
for Hal, it was better when he was just human, and it was a human mistake fueled by grief that caused the deaths of the corps and Zero Hour... not that fact that he was under the influence of some alien bug
i'm not against her death, per se, i'm just against the fact that she had a completely pointless death that meant absolutely fuck all for the future continuity...
if they'd killed her off with a damn good reason and given her a 'reason' to die, then yeah, sure...
but killing someone off just to advance a plot that was then retoconned out of existence a few months down the line? thats just how to fuck off fans

I agree wholeheartedly. But it's too late now... damage is done, and the symbiotes have taken over.
If they ever do bring Jade back. They should make it so she didn't cheat on Kyle. That made me hate her character. They could make up some lame excuse like the guy in the shower was her uncle's, half brother's, cousin twice removed, ex-roommate's, bi-sexual, sister-in-law's, step father's little brother through marriage. They've done worse things in comics, why not this?
