EXCLUSIVE: Look Inside Manapul's "The Flash"

September may seem like an eternity from now for fans of DC Comics who have already spent several weeks wondering what exactly the relaunch of the DC Universe holds in store for their favorite heroes. However, some details of the 52 #1 issues shipping to comic shops that month have begun hitting the web, including a brand new look at "The Flash" #1 that DC provided exclusively to CBR.

The above spread by Francis Manapul represents the opening scene of the series first issues. After serving as artist for Geoff Johns' pre-relaunch run featuring Barry Allen in the red cowl, the penciler will continue to tell the adventures of Central City's costumes science cop both as artist and co-writer along with his on-page collaborator Brian Buccellato. While many questions remain about how the new series will operate and whether it will still present the Fastest Man Alive's cases in the mystery format of the last series, Manapul's penchant for playing with visual representations of the hero's speed will obviously remain intact.

Stay tuned in the days ahead for an interview with Manapul and Buccellato and all the news coming out of DC in September.

I'm sooooooooo looking forward to the new Firestorm title, but if it's a mirror to GJ's GL then I'm sorry.... those circles on the villain looking guy are definitely more Firestorms. What did GJ's GL run give us? More Lanterns. This HAS to mean more Firestorms.

But I wonder.... will Multiplex be closer to Firestorm's power level? Will he exist at all? The word from the people involved didn't say anything about this title picking up after Brightest Day, so I'm assuming it's a new reboot as well. Jason, Ronnie, possibly Prof. Stein, maybe a new fire elemental, a more nuclear Multiplex.... I'm still at a loss for who a 6th FS could be....

All Star Western DOES look good, but I'd like to see other characters aside from Hex. Like maybe Nighthawk [if the past lives of Hawkman are still in-continuity] and Cinnamon, or the Whip, etc....

EDIT: All that trouble rebooting the Flash again just to give Barry Wally's belt!

Excites me for Stormwatch, Fury of Firestorm, and Frankenstein now. =) Still not sold on Flash though. Atleast they mention Wally will hopefully show up.

After looking at the previews one more time i couldn t help but notice wildstorm characters in the dc universe.
I must ask why?
Dc dosnt need more characters from other universe`s at this point, we got plenty allready, the charlton comic`s ones which i love btw, dakota character`s, and we can keep them offcourse, but new ones are a big no no.
Don`t need them, give them their own universe or something.

Firehawk? Pozhar? Svarozich? If they even exist in the brand-new continuity, of course. Since Gail Simone said this is going to be a "Geoff Johns" kind of book, though, we can assume that nothing from the old series will carry over.
