  • Not if they are the ones to change things. In issue 2 of Flashpoint, Barry mentions that over time, he will start to forget the original timeline, if he doesn't change it back soon.

So basically, this will be a Barry Allen made DCU. He's the new Parallax! It's Zero Hour all over again!

This. I see it falling apart over time, much like COIE changes did (Canary taking WW's place as a charter JLA member for example).

So Superman may not be wearing his underwear over his trousers anymore. But he’s not the only one to get a major change in nethergarments.

I understand that there is an editorial edict for the DC Comics superlaunch that their female superheroes wear more… practical clothing. So Wonder Woman gets to keep her trousers. But the likes of Supergirl will be redesigned so they aren’t running around in a little skirt flashing their panties at every available opportunity either. Female superhero characters will have their legs covered.

They can still wear tightblack PVC, but gone are the days when the uniforms informed you whether or not your favourite superheroine had undergone special shaving.

Haven’t heard one way of the other about breasts though. All you Power Girl fans will have to wait for news on that one.

          • I'm trying to remember, if Clark and Lois aren't married, does that leave ANY married heroes in the DCU? I'm sure I'm forgetting somebody obvious.

EDIT: I guess Barry is married. If that sticks. And Animal Man is still married, right?

Barry Allen assuming the marriage comes back post-Flashpoint?
Wally West assuming he comes back.
Animal Man, and that's all I can think of.

Geoff Johns And Jim Lee At Hero Complex Film Festival To Announce…Nothing
Much has been made of whatever it was the Geoff Johns and Jim Lee were to announce on the Superman day of the LA Times Hero Complex Film Festival in LA next June.

Bleeding Cool has been informed that events, not entirely unconnected with our coverage yesterday, mean that anything the folks would have announced then, either has been announced or will be announced before then.

Whether that will mean Jim Lee and Geoff Johns on stage with their hands on their pockets, kicking a smal stone around I don’t know.

Still I doubt that Geoff Johns wil be stuck for telling stories about Richard Donner. And Jim Lee can always draw…

If they were serious, they should split all the couples up so they can do the courtships over again. I'd be VERy surprised if Wally was married or his kids still existed.

The good news is the Dibneys are bound to be back, never having died.

This will be Green Lantern volume 5.

I'm really most nervous about what will happen to the Justice Society. There is a JSA #1 coming out and thankfully Guggenheim is not on it, so the whole "society" thing with a million z list members might be mercifully swept away. As for Alan, who knows? If they were serious, this would be the time to get rid of him or make him a predeccessor of Hal in the GLC.

"How do we make people care -- REALLY care -- about an Ultimates-esque line of DCU?"

Answer, after committee: "We daisy chain it out of Flashpoint and 1) Convince people this new Ultimates-esque line is replacing the DCU entirely, and 2) Do not sell the regular continuitied DCU titles for a time so as to give people no CHOICE but to read the new Ultimates-esque line if they want to read any DC comics."

But yeah, like has been said in this thread... while DC is obviously excited about giving everybody a great, very accessible "jumping on" point for things I wonder if they've truly considered the very real danger in giving readers -- particularly now that mainstream comics have become a much older, jaded collector's market -- the perfect "jumping off" point.

                        The scenarios I see happening.

                        a) New continuitied-DC sticks around in various ongoing titles or graphic novels. Old DCU comes back in various ongoing titles, anthology books, or graphic novel serials.

                        b) New continuitied-DC goes away but various characters from it are imported into the Old DCU (think "X-Man" after Marvel's "Age of Apocalypse" ended), which comes back en masse.

                        c) As time goes on in the new-continuitied DC things chip away little by little until, in the end, the Old DCU surfaces through. Not all at once, but gradually.
Since Johns been writing for DC he has been reshaping the DCU, at which point I jumped onto DC books. I'm one of the new readers that DC has been trying to attract. I think Johns had done a wonderful job in recreating the Green Lantern world for new readers, where he had a plan with Secret Origins with laid the path for Sinestro Corps and Blackest Night.

DC should just have created their our Ultimate Universe.

The restart will definitely bring attention to DC. Will it work in bringing in new readers? I doubt it. At least not in the amount that DC wants and that's taking over Marvel in sales. The restart appears to be offending readers than bringing in new ones.

Don't see that happening... they seem really attached to the whole "Hal is the first Earthman GL of all time" nonsense. Even though the Dragon Lord mini retconned that away a decade ago.

Heck, even before that didn't we get Waverly Sayre (sp?) in a Tales of the GLC? (He would be later in DCU history, of course, but earlier in publishing history.)
