Major comics distributor regains access to its website following ransomware attack

Marvel’s Disney+ Series ‘Moon Knight’ To Feature Music By Hesham Nazih

Hesham Nazih has composed original music for Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ original series Moon Knight. The show marks the first major English language project of the composer who is best known for scoring numerous Egyptian features and TV shows, including The Blue Elephant, Ibrahim Labyad, Tito and Born a King. It has not been confirmed yet whether Nazih is composing the score for all six episodes, but his contribution is believed to be a major part of the show’s music. The 6-part drama is directed by Mohamed Diab (Amira, Clash, Cairo 678) and Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead (The Endless, Synchronic) and stars Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy. The series revolves around Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life and discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy, Fantastic Four) serves as the project’s head writer. Diab, Isaac & Slater are also executive producing the Marvel Studios production with Kevin Feige (Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy), Louis D’Esposito & Victoria Alonso (WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), Grant Curtis (Spider-Man 3, Drag Me to Hell) and Brad Winderbaum (Hawkeye, What If…?). Moon Knight will premiere on March 30, 2022 on Disney+.

Michael Giacchino Will Direct Marvel’s Werewolf By Night Special

Composer Michael Giacchino is no stranger to comic book adaptations. However, his next project will be a more hands-on experience. The Wrap is reporting that Giacchino will direct the untitled Marvel Studios Halloween special based on Werewolf by Night. Giacchino does have one previous live-action genre credit as a director. He previously helmed the short film, Monster Challenge, as well as an episode of Star Trek: Short Treks. But he is best known for composing music for The Incredibles, Star Trek (2009), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Lost, Jurassic World, and War For the Planet of the Apes. More recently, Giacchino scored The Batman for director Matt Reeves. He has also provided the scores for Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man trilogy and Doctor Strange. The Halloween special will begin filming later this month and debut in October on Disney+.

Amie Doherty to Compose Music for Marvel’s ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’

Amie Doherty (Spirit Untamed, Undone, Happiest Season, The High Note, Battle at Big Rock, Here and Now) is composing the original music for Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ original series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. The show is developed by Jessica Gao and stars Tatiana Maslany, Jameela Jamil, Josh Segarra, Ginger Gonzaga, Jon Bass, Renée Elise Goldsberry and Tim Roth, as well as guest stars including Mark Ruffalo as Smart Hulk, Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/the Abomination, and Benedict Wong as Wong. The 9-part comedy follows an attorney specializing in superhuman-oriented legal cases who must navigate the complicated life of a single, 30-something who also happens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk. Gao is also executive producing the project with Kevin Feige (Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther), Louis D’Esposito & Victoria Alonso (Loki, WandaVision), Brad Winderbaum (Moon Knight, Hawkeye), as well as Kat Coiro (Marry Me, A Case of You) who also directed multiple episodes. Doherty will also participate at the film/TV composer panel Musical Anatomy of a Superhero at this year’s Comic-Con on July 21 and is expected to discuss her work on the series. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will premiere on August 17, 2022 on Disney+

Christophe Beck to Return for Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’

Christophe Beck (Frozen, Edge of Tomorrow, Free Guy, The Muppets, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Hangover) is returning as the composer of Marvel Studios’ upcoming sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The film is directed by Peyton Reed and stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kathryn Newton and Jonathan Majors. No plot details have been announced yet. Jeff Loveness (Rick & Morty) wrote the screenplay. Kevin Feige (Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther) is producing the project. Beck has previously scored the first two Ant-Man movies (Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp) and also composed the music for Marvel’s limited series WandaVision and Hawkeye (with Michael Paraskevas). Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is scheduled be released in theaters nationwide on February 17, 2023. As previously reported, Beck also has David F. Sandberg’s comic book movie Shazam! Fury of the Gods (to be released in theaters on December 21, 2022) coming up. He is also set to participate in the composer panel 8th Musical Anatomy of a Superhero at this year’s Comic-Con on July 21.

The Newton Brothers Scoring Marvel’s ‘X-Men ’97’

The Newton Brothers (The Haunting of Hill House, Doctor Sleep, Midnight Mass, The Forever Purge, Life of Crime, The Walking Dead: World Beyond) are scoring Marvel Studios’ upcoming animated series X-Men ’97. The show is a revival of Fox’s X-Men: The Animated Series, which premiered between 1992 and 1997, and stars original series voice cast members, including Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Alison Sealy-Smith, Chris Potter, Catherine Disher, Adrian Hough, and Christopher Britton. They are joined by new additions, including Jennifer Hale, Anniwaa Buachie, Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, JP Karliak, Holly Chou, Jeff Bennett, and AJ LoCascio. Beau DeMayo (The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf) serves as the head writer is also executive producing the project. X-Men ’97 will premiere in the fall of 2023 on Disney+.

Michael Giacchino Scoring Marvel’s ‘Werewolf by Night’ Halloween Special

Michael Giacchino (Up, Lost, The Batman, Jurassic World, The Incredibles, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) has confirmed that he is scoring Marvel Studios’ upcoming Halloween special Werewolf by Night. The composer is also directing the project, which is co-directed by Jaycob Maya and stars Gael García Bernal in the title role of Jack Russell, as well as Laura Donnelly, Harriet Sansom Harris, Eugenie Bondurant and Maya himself. Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito and Victoria Alonso are executive producing the special.Giacchino has previously composed music for numerous features for Marvel, including Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far from Home & No Way Home, Doctor Strange and this year’s Thor: Love and Thunder. Werewolf by Night will premiere on October 7, 2022 on Disney+. Also coming up for Giacchino is Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins, which is expected to be released in 2023.

Kris Bowers Scoring Marvel Studios’ ‘Secret Invasion’

Kris Bowers (Bridgerton, Green Book, King Richard, Mrs. America, Space Jam: A New Legacy, When They See Us, Dear White People) has recently been scoring Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ limited series Secret Invasion. The show is developed by Kyle Bradstreet (Mr. Robot) based on the Marvel Comics storyline of the same title and stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos, as well as Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman. The 6-part crossover event series directed by Thomas Bezucha (Let Him Go, The Family Stone) & Ali Selim showcases a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years. Bradstreet is also executive producing the project with Kevin Feige (Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther), Victoria Alonso (Loki, WandaVision) and Louis D’Esposito (Moon Knight, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier). Secret Invasion will premiere this year on Disney+.

‘Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur’ Soundtrack Album Released

Walt Disney Records has released the first soundtrack album for the Disney Channel animated series Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. The album features the songs from the first season of the show, including the theme song Moon Girl Magic written and produced by executive music producer Raphael Saadiq (Lovecraft Country, Insecure, Underground, Black Nativity) and performed by series star Diamond White. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is based on Marvel’s hit comic books and also features the voices of Fred Tatasciore, Alfre Woodard, Sasheer Zamata, Libe Barer, Gary Anthony Williams, Jermaine Fowler and Laurence Fishburne. The series, which follows the adventures of a 13-year-old super-genius and her 10-ton T-Rex, is premiering tonight on the Disney Channel and the first six episodes will be available to stream on February 15 on Disney+.

Benjamin Wallfisch Scoring J.C. Chandor’s ‘Kraven the Hunter’

(It, Blade Runner 2049, Shazam!, Hidden Figures, The Invisible Man) has recently been scoring the upcoming action adventure Kraven the Hunter. The film is directed by J.C. Chandor (Margin Call, All Is Lost) and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ariana DeBose, Alessandro Nivola, Christopher Abbott, Fred Hechinger and Russell Crowe. The movie tells the story about how and why the title character came to be, before his notorious vendetta with Spider-Man. Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man, Uncharted) and Richard Wenk (The Equalizer, The Magnificent Seven) wrote the screenplay based on the Marvel Comics. Avi Arad (Spider-Man: Into/Across the Spider-Verse, Venom), Matt Tolmach (Spider-Man: No Way Home, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) and David Householter (Bad Teacher) are producing the project. Kraven the Hunter is scheduled to be released in theaters nationwide on October 6, 2023 by Sony Pictures. Wallfisch’s other recent projects include Andy Muschietti’s The Flash, which just opened in theaters earlier this month.

Rob Simonsen To Score Shawn Levy’s ‘Deadpool 3’

Director Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Free Guy, Real Steel) has confirmed that he is reuniting with composer Rob Simonsen (Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Foxcatcher, The Whale, The Way Back, (500) Days of Summer, Nerve) on the upcoming superhero movie Deadpool 3. The film stars Ryan Reynolds in the title role, alongside Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, as well as Jennifer Garner as Elektra. Levy & Reynolds also wrote the screenplay with Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese (Zombieland) and Zeb Wells (SuperMansion). They are also producing the Marvel Studios production with Kevin Feige (Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther). Tom Holkenborg (Junkie XL) has composed the music for Tim Miller’s original Deadpool movie, while Tyler Bates has composed the score for David Leitch’s Deadpool 2. Simonsen has previously scored Levy’s last feature, The Adam Project and also worked on the Levy-produced fourth season of Netflix’s Stranger Things. Deadpool 3 is scheduled to be released in theaters nationwide on May 3, 2024 by 20th Century Studios.

Johan Söderqvist Scoring SJ Clarkson’s ‘Madame Web’

(Let the Right One In, Kon-Tiki, After the Wedding, Battlefield V, Things We Lost in the Fire, In a Better World, The Last Vermeer) has been tapped to score the upcoming superhero movie Madame Web. The film is directed by SJ Clarkson (Mistresses, Toast) and stars Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Isabela Merced, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts and Adam Scott. The thriller based on the Marvel Comics centers on Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan with clairvoyant abilities as she is forced to confront revelations about her past and forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures. Clarkson also co-wrote the screenplay with Claire Parker based on a story by Kerem Sanga (The Violent Heart, First Girl I Loved). Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, The Meg, Deepwater Horizon) is producing the project. Söderqvist has previously collaborated with Clarkson on last year’s Netflix series Anatomy of a Scandal. Madame Web is scheduled to be released in theaters nationwide on February 14, 2024 by Sony Pictures.
