      • John Paesano Scoring Amazon’s ‘Invincible’

John Paesano (Daredevil, The Maze Runner, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, The Star) has recently been scoring the upcoming Amazon original series Invincible. The show is created by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead, Outcast) based on the Skybound/Image comic by himself, Cory Walker & Ryan Ottley and features the voices of Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Seth Rogen, Gillian Jacobs, Andrew Rannells, Zazie Beetz, Mark Hamill, Walton Goggins, Jason Mantzoukas, Mae Whitman, Chris Diamantopoulos, Melise, Kevin Michael Richardson, Grey Griffin and Max Burkholder. The adult animated superhero series revolves around 17-year-old teenager who’s just like every other guy his age – except his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet. Kirkman is also executive producing the Skybound production with Simon Racioppa (George of the Jungle), David Alpert (Locke & Key, Fear the Walking Dead) and Catherine Winder (The Angry Birds Movie, Escape from Planet Earth). Invincible will premiere in 2021 on Amazon Prime.

I've only read the first two volume trade paperbacks of Invincible over a decade ago. I need to go back and read the rest of this series.

        • ^It is an excellent series. I bought up the individual trades over time and binged through once I had them all. Great use of superhero tropes and still feels incredibly fresh. I'm only missing one of the Kirkman Superpatriot mini-series and the Spider-Man teamup issue and planning a re-read. I highly recommend it.

          • Does anybody know how Image is doing in this downturn?
The pandemic should have ended in the United States in March. You know why it didn't, don't you? Think about that every time you put on a mask.

Evidently, they're doing pretty well. I wouldn't have suspected that.

              • I'm just speculating here, but there might be two reasons for that. One is that they don't have nearly as many managers as DC and Marvel do, so a drop in sales might not hit them so hard. Second, they probably have more hard-core fans than DC and Marvel do, people who strongly support their comics and are not likely to drop a title if it becomes harder to obtain.

I heard a lot about Invincible. I might have to read that someday. I'm still trying to complete my Walking Dead collection.
