  • Not that they haven't tried to sell us enough Blackest Night stuff already, but...

...am I the only one surprised by the apparent lack of any associated "Secret Files" title for this event?

Not sure I regret its absence (after all, like I said, there have been more than enough books tied to this event already), but I'm almost shocked that they WOULDN'T put one out, especially with the opportunity it would give to hype aspects of the upcoming Brightest Day event with some of the entries.

Thank God, they haven't! I think this winter has been a heavier purchase than a summer crossover ever has.

I didn't mind Walker or Arisia's backstory. The rest were pretty awful.

BATMAN?! What the fuck did the Batman mini-series do?

            Jack and squat!

They didn't need any of the tie-ins or the mini-series to tell the story. They were there exclusively to move copies and it worked so good on them.

Thats why I am only getting the Hardback of Blackest Night along with the Blackest Night: Green Lantern and Blackest Night: Green Lantern Corps tie ins. I read the Batman one and realized it meant absolute shit over all. They vow to continue the fight against the Black Lanterns when they hardly fought any and haven't appeared in the main series at all.
I think Green Lantern is a pretty cool guy, eh overcomes graet fear and doesnt afraid of Sinestro.

The only ones that really meant anything were the Flash & WW mini's...as for all the OTHER tie-in books (ones that put the logo on the top), the only one there that was worth a crap was Hawkman & Atom.

I think the Titans mini was the most useful, firstly it showed that Black Lanterns could infect the living by biting them and secondly it revealed Dove as one of the more potent defences against the Black.

Wonder-woman and Flash could have been useful as a first person observation of how the blue and violet rings operate but didn't fulfill that potential.

Superman showed some vulnerability in the Black Lanterns to emotion in the form of Psycho Pirate's medusa mask. I don't fully understand what it was trying to say but I expect it was something along the lines of if Black Lanterns feel emotions their connection will be severed!?!

Batman at least showed that Black Lanterns can't see you if you're not feeling anything.

                      JSA achieved nothing.

But having three issues each was a bit much when one each would have done (although we would have said then that the stories were too rushed)

With the exception of The Flash, there is no reason why it couldn't have been a one-, two- or three-part story in their respective titles.

                          Yo.

since this was a DCU-event, I have no prob (and in fact LIKED) most of the various tie-ins; the real issue has more to do w/how long it took to tell the story than how wide-spread it reached title-wise.

These flowed the best with BN and the Storyline within the series.
