  • The New Golden Age 2023

    Hello ringslingers,

I've seen 2 new titles using "The New Golden Age" in the top corner of the cover. What does this mean for Green Lantern?

    - Alan Scott, the magical first Green Lantern, and in the Justice Society, has a Russian counterpart, who boasts of a "Crimson Flame"?
    - This Russian has a Jade daughter counterpart with the Crimson Flame in her hand?

So the Emotional Spectrum already changes with Alan Scott's career.

Anything else new in 2023 with DC Comics?

Yeah, that's a new kind of Red Lantern, right? I'm not missing some lore, am I?

Alan's daughter, who has internalized green power is Jade. Red Lantern's daughter who has internalized red power is Ruby.... I get it. Man, Red Lantern really wanted to emulate Alan. (what do you call a Soviet superfan of GA Green Lantern? ... "StAlan" ... get it - he Stans Alan... he's Soviet... )

What in the fresh hell is this? Is this in canon?

Fuck Geoff Johns and anything associated with him. The only good thing is that he'll take so long to come out with them that we'll forget these exist.

            Uh oh... this part:

DC's press release says of the Alan Scott book: "Alan Scott: The Green Lantern revisits and recontextualizes the origins of the first Green Lantern through the lens of our modern understanding of the man.

            You know what that means!

I wasn't really interested anyway, but, yeah, that's worrying. But I haven't watched a live-action comic book show since Lois and Clark (and I didn't see every episode of that).

Well they already made the Ga Alan gay some time ago [not just an alternate Earth version] so this just means they're doubling down on it.

This is why I've given up buying comics. There's nothing coming out worth spending money on.

Pretty much. Sadly. There's just no way I can justify giving money to these people.

Definitely. I read them online in the hopes of finding something worth buying, but it's just trash over and over. I'm at the point where I won't shed a tear if/when the industry finally dies.

Since New 52, I've tried to get every appearance of a GL (though I missed Earth 2: Society). I thought I'd get the new retconned Alan, but with the preview this week, I just can't do it. I can't force myself to collect something that's going to be such a chore to read. I guess in my head, I can justify it that I collect GLC books and Alan isn't GLC. But they have so ruined the character, I can't support this.
