  • What was the Massacre of sector 666?

The Manhunters massacre mentioned lately? I don't think I have ever heard of that before. I'm assuming that might be the same place the Antimoniter landed.
Since the Guardians did say his body disappeared somewhere in the 600's.

I think you may be on to something with that. I mean, we are told about some massacre that we have never heard of before, which could mean they are setting it up to play some role in an upcoming storyline. We are told about the AM's body disappearing somewhere in the vicinity. We've got the promise of some sort of rising of the dead, which could easily be concentrated in a Sector that is nothing BUT dead. It could very well all be tying together in the months to come...

That is Morro's Sector. He is the Keeper of the Crypts of Oa. Wonder if we will see more of this guy down the road?

Hope so. He seems like a cool character and could probably do some KILLER (No pun intended) ring-slingin'.

If there is literally dead bodies of Lanterns kept in the crypt, around Blackest Night I bet we'll see more of him.

Maybe the Green Lantern crypt will be besiged by Black Lantern rings during the Blackest Night.

Now that would be a cool scene, Morro valiantly struggling to keep a cloud of black rings at bay in the Crypts. Finally he falters, and the rings start to get through, latching on to dead GLs, and Morro barely escapes when his dragon-like creatures give their lives to get him out of there.

Are the Black Lanterns going to be just un-dead? or evil un-dead? because Jack coming back and blaming Kyle for his death, while on one hand I think would be cool, it just a little TOO obvious... TOO expected, ya know?

Well, personally I think the dramatic possibilities are greater if the dead are brought back and serve the purposes of whoever is running this Black Lantern Corps, regardless of who they were in life. I mean, if they only bring back villains, then really you just have GLs (and others) fighting villains that used to be dead, but aren't any more. That's like every other day in the DCU.

I think it would be much more interesting if they were fighting against people that they once fought alongside.

How many dead GL's are in the crypt? after thousands of years of GL's they could easily outnumber all the other corps together.

There are a good many, but actually wait didnt kyle blow up Oa? Wouldnt that mean that all the previous dead bodies are gone, I may be wrong though. Mabey Green Lantern Zero.....I'll check when I have access to my books.

Yeah, Kyle blew up Oa, but there might still be quite a few GLs in the crypts. I mean, everybody that died in the Sinestro Corps War (and that was quite a sizeable number), everybody that died in Superboy Prime's assault on Oa, other random recent deaths, that would put a least a few hundred in there, and there is always the possibility that others are there from before Oa was blown up because either,

a.) Oa's destruction was retconned out
b.)Tom Kalmaku's rebuilding of Oa was REMARKABLY thorough, and somehow reconstituted what was there before in its entirety, including the bodies in the crypts, or
c.) The Crypts were never physically present in Oa, but were in some kind of tesseract, or fold in space, that allowed for a graveyard that could hold any number of fallen GLs through the passing millennia without overrunning a huge portion of the planet. If that was the case, once Oa was rebuilt they could just reconnect to the space-fold (or whatever) and the contents would be intact.

I do get the feeling that the crypts have quite a few bodies, but I would imagine that in many cases there are just memorial statues, because the bodies were not recovered, or were totally destroyed.

Yeah if anything I would guess A. Because in GG:Reborn he goes into the crypts from Oa and in GL #0 Hal and Kyle end up there too, but I guess that doesnt entirely rule out C. But I completely agree that there are still alot of bodies just most likely not as many as there would have been before Kyle blew up Oa(if he still did, Retcons are gay.....).

What I want to know is, what would qualify you to be a Black Lantern? With the yellow and green rings, you must have the ability to overcome or instill great fear. I'm sure with the others you need the ability to instill great hope, compassion, melloncholly, etc. So does that mean you need the ability to overcome great...death? Does anyone that's get just become a good candidate for a black ring? Those who died unjustly? Those who were eeevviiilll before they died? What are the rules with this one?
