That's not really an answer, though, because the opposite isn't necessarily true. It is entirely possible to think you CAN do something, yet be wrong.

Which is not to say that you can't do it. You may well be able to. Just that when people ask you why you think you can, saying that if you think you can't then you automatically can't isn't really an answer to that question.

Not that I'm sure it is really a fair question, at least for anybody that doesn't have past experience in the field to point to. You think you can do it because you've got ideas that you think are good, and are confident in your writing skills. The only way, really, to test that assumption is to have you do it and see what happens. If there was any other way of proving it, in advance, to answer such a question, then I imagine DC would be better able to keep sales up.

        • When I was in HEAT, Kyle fans used to bellow at me. "PROVE that Hal and the Corps would sell!" Of course the only way to prove it was to put it out there, but I was confident that they would sell.

If you think that what's being published now is as good as what I've written, then support the current direction.

I've demonstrated what I can do, and I'll continue to do so. If you"d rather stay the course than go in that direction, then you're entitled. But the sales trends don't support what's being done now. It's been proved NOT to sell.

          • But you're talking as if what you're writing will be solicited monday when DC announces the August solicits.

Like I asked before, what are you doing other than writing fan fiction? Have you made any moves toward writing or to DC? Or no

            • Mine is more of a question of why does it have to be Spy or Venditti? Green Lantern is in a huge hole,I wan't some one who has proven in the past that they can write an awesome Hal and stand a small chance of damage controlling how far back Venditti set the book.

I agree, but yet when I ask spy what makes him think he's proven enough to do this, I get the answer "if I don't think so, then I can't do it. That's what qualifies me."

                • I don't wanna say Spy should not get his crack at. I am just saying at this point GL is so bad off it is to risky to take a chance on a unknown. However If Spy is really serious about writting GL he needs to team up with a good artist, draw up some mock issues and if they are good enough the fan comunity will talk, that talk can generate into it getting noticed by the right person and so on. Power to you Spy.

                  • I'll have my fourth issue up soon. Again, COMPARE THEM TO WHAT YOU"RE SEEING . If you think they fail the comparison test, then you're entitled to think so.

Yeah but writting Green Lantern better then Venditti is not a big deal. He has set the bar so low. I could give 70% of the message board toilet paper and Crayons and they could write a better GL comic then Venditti. You need something more impressive then that,to get me to back you over say some one like Mark Waid.

                      • Don't compare them to one particular writer. Compare them to all five Lantern titles. If you think they don't measure up, then that's fine.

I would love some more information on this. Because If he is only on for a few more issues then maybe I won't drop it.

Yet again you still fail to answer my question.

The answer to your question is that I'll prove it in the sample issues that I write. I have many more coming. You might read them and decide that they're not good enough. You can do that.
