In my opinion, the bombshell covers were a legitimately interesting idea and they were really well done, so I'm glad to see them payoff for DC...

Oh, I liked them. I got them for most of my New 52 purchases that month. The one thing that could've been better would be if they were direct images and not images of an add, calendar, jacket or whatever. I thought the Carol Ferris one, for instance, looked really cool, but since it was a picture in a newspaper on a table, it was so small.

Thanks for doing the dirty work Space Cop. I like looking at this every month. Some of the books are still steadily declining. Red Lanterns hasn't dropped that much, but it's still dropping and at it's lowest sales point so far. Sinestro seems closer to leveling off and might have a chance of making it. Still too soon to tell.

The gimmick covers they did this summer gave the titles a shot in the arm, and #34 issues will probably do the same. The flipcover issue helped Red Lanterns a bit, but that bump has faded away. The next few months will be odd because of the gimmick covers for #34 and the entire gimmick month in September always sell well.

I continue to be surprised that The Red Lanterns outsells The New Guardians, though only by a small amount, and that its sales seem more stable than TNG.

Don't be too optimistic about Sinestro. The sales have dropped by 18K over the first four issues, which is the same amount that Larfleeze's sales had dropped by. The difference is that Sinestro started out 10K higher.

GL and the GLC are healthy, but of course all the titles' sales are being propped up by gimmicks. If DC can keep coming up with new gimmicks, then so be it.

I was thinking about what you said about Red Lanterns outselling New Guardians. As strange as it feels for me to say this...I think it's currently the better title. I'm currently finding RL under Soules somewhat readable, which I never felt about Milligan's run. Conversely, it's all I can do to GET through an issue of New Guardians. That book is just a trainwreck. I do think GL:NG has the better premise, certainly far more potential than Red Lanterns. RL just seems to be getting by on the writer's talent. When he leaves in March that book is in serious trouble.

Yeah, I think Red Lanterns outsells New Guardians based on it having more critical acclaim, and judging from the internet, readers just seem to really like the Red Lanterns title.

I don't know what will happen to the book when Charles Soule leaves it.

The cancellation level for DCU titles is 17K on ICV2, so both titles are actually in difficulty. Still though. RL has held on better than I thought it would, considering how piss-poor the concept is and how everybody assumed that Kyle had a bigger and more reliable fan base than Guy. Back in the day, if you had ever suggested Guy would ever outsell Kyle, you'd have gotten ridiculed off the message boards.

The power if just ridiculous and needs to go away forever.

I couldn't agree more with that. But you know, as recently as three months ago when I said in the CBR forums that it was time to flush the emotional spectrum, I got trolled wildly, violently and almost unanimously -- the very same way I got trolled when I said it was time for Geoff Johns to leave the Lantern titles. Not only are the comics companies usually too late to realize when it's time to change something, but the fanboys are too.
