  • The next big Green Lantern event is coming soon

From New York Comic Con: "Johns said they'll be talking about the "bigger story" happening across the four books soon."

So it sounds like... get ready for another big Green Lantern event spanning all the books, like it or not.

Better within the 4 titles than another company wide thing. I can deal with that. I just hope it turns out better than War Of The GLs ended up being.

This early into the game of the "DCNu" with the relative fresh starts in all the titles this news strikes me as being extremely disappointing, a disappointing reversal of what it sounded like the modus operandi of DC for a good couple of years was going to be (shorter arcs, one-shots even, and no interconnecting megastories for a good long while).

I was looking forward to a good two years of seeing what Tomasi and Bedard -- hell, even Johns -- could do without the confines of what is dictacted by the Sinestro Corps War Episode X.

Yes, this does seem to be the opposite of what was, if not promised, at least strongly implied about the plans for the DCnU. Y'know, if they were doing shorter arcs, or even one shot stories, in these titles on a regular basis, tossing in multi-title events so often wouldn't bug me as much. But as it is, it doesn't feel like we get more than one or two stories (if that, sometime the ONE story they are telling takes long enough that it gets subsumed into the next event) before another event rears its head.

So far, it doesn't look like we are going to be getting any shorter arcs, though.

Glad I dropped the book after Boringest Night.

It's starting to seem like Johns is not capable of just telling a fun Green Lantern story.

He's the DC version of Bendis.

Hmmm, I read "when it comes time for a crossover...". Not starting at issue #4 we have a huge event. Currently each issue is dealing with War of the GL fallout, it would make sense that the common thread meet again. It already is somewhat, Ganthet "goes crazy" in GL and that gets explained in GL:NG, actually that story will probably also mention why the ring went to Sinestro.

There might be too much being read into that statement. To me, it only means they are going to sit down soon and essentially plan the next event that ties them together. It doesn't mean we'll see it actually take place much sooner than the original 1.5-2 years that was originally hinted at. If three arcs of GL (Sinestro, Indigo Tribe, 1st Lantern) are already planned, that pretty much gets us through one year alone.
"My mind is deluged with thoughts of Heaven and Hell,
Crime and Punishment, Damnation and Redemption. Hal
                Jordan... And The Spectre.

I'm dead, yet I live. I have no identity. Yet I know
who I am. And once again I've been given power enough
to change the world. This time, Lord...
                Let me be worthy."

You really do expect too much for Geoff Johns, he can't write a story without getting into a big arc. It's not possible.

                      That's absolutely true.

Then going back and pretending it was his vision the whole time.

I went back to Green Lantern with the New 52, and I very much like what this and GLC is right now.
It's what I liked about Green Lantern way back during the 'No Fear' time.
If he keeps it grounded, but can make something like Sinestro Corps War, then I'll enjoy it.
If not, I won't feel hurt. I'm ready to drop both books the moment I see trouble.

I was really let down by the War of the Green Lanterns arc, so i may end up sitting out this would be crossover if it does happen. I bailed during the first half of WOTGL when it took a nose dive. Only getting GLC out of the new 52 GL books.

how do you know the decision even came from johns at all?

for all we know it couldve been someone higher then him saying we want this to happen.

i agree it seems early for a big event but i dont attack johns for it because after all he is just the writter of it and not the suit that makes bigger decisions
