That's the ONLY way it would work.

    And it would suck.

Say what you will about Geoff's GL (and I know I, personally, have enjoyed a lot of it) but it seems ludicrous to see it as any kind of culmination of what came before him on the title.
Pretty easily, actually. A young Hal Jordan wakes up one morning after having a terrible dream where his dad dies in a plane crash, he get's some magic ring from an Alien and goes on adventures and shit. Then he goes to school.

MTV Geek: First off, that’s a pretty ominous looking cover. Do you see this issue as a beginning or ending?

Ethan Van Sciver: It's both! But it certainly does bring 50 years of Green Lantern stories to a conclusion of sorts. I cried. I'm crying now.

Ah well I must have forgotten/missed that article. Well that makes sense. Still should be intriguing.

The chained up guy is the first lantern.... GL 62 is the first mention of him. Of course throughout vol. 4 and the beginning of vol. 5 have led up to the point of him being released from the Chamber of Shadows.

Nrama: We've been told there's a "First Lantern" who will free the "Third Army." When does that happen?

    Johns: In the future.

    Nrama: [laughs] You're so vague.

Johns: I know. [laughs] How about... in the not-so-distant future. The Chamber of Shadows and freeing the First Lantern — all that stuff is coming down the line. I'm sorry. I don't want to give it totally away right now, because that's a pretty big story.

Ok just reread, I didn't see anything about the First Lantern in there, unless he's the chained up guy in the beginning and near the end but that doesn't seem like the first Lantern.

Well all I am saying is that this whole Third Army thing is Krona's fault. If not by any part of him being alive then what he did in War of The Green Lanterns made the Guardians become the even more evil, jackasses than they were.

Well wouldn't anyone else like to know where the Entities are? I sure as hell would.

I liked the idea of the First Lantern being revived by a White Lantern ring and Hal fighting with a Black Lantern ring.

Nothing would be accomplished, even for Johns, if it were Krona, and it would be lame as hell if it was the Entities.

Which is why he's able to speak through all the rings in the spectrum. ("let me out" since he's locked up in the chamber)

If the "let me out" is not connected to the First Lantern then maybe it's the common sense of the Guardians that were trapped inside the rings when they were controlled by the entities.

Whoever said Pandora gives Baz the ring, good theory! I think that'd be interesting if it happened and it fits with the whole Trinity War thing going on.
