  • Now Hal has to be the dick

the good thing about the guardians was that they could be the dicks who made the gls do things they didn't want to do.

that comes with being in charge. you have to be the dick.

the problem was that geoff had the guardans on-camera all the time and acting as NOTHING BUT dicks.

they should have been rarely seen, and they should have made good decisions at least sometimes.

they should have been like starfleet command in star trek.

but now hal will have to be the dick.

we'll see how that works out.

They let lanterns kill people if necessary. That's a good decision.

They put John Stewart on trial for killing a fellow Green Lantern. That's a good decision.

    That's sometimes!

You should make one final big thread "How Volume 4 & 5 Should Have Been". Collect your thought there.

i'll sum it up. they shouldn't have changed everything. they should have written stories instead.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the sales number improved when they introduced Kyle Rayner? And didn't they write great Kyle Rayner stories?

And this is why there shouldn't be reboots.

There is no such thing as a unfixable situation in the magic land of comic books.

I think GL's best days are behind it. I think DC is so dissapointed by the movie that they have lost all hope in the character. I won't be suprised to see them chose John Stewart for the movie and his powers of Diversity.

This was my thought of what DC was going to do. with the sucess of Flash Rebirth and GL rebirth I honestly thought every main Justice Leaguer was going to get that treatment and we were going to return DCU to the Icons. Obviously I was mistaken. But I sometimes I magine a world where Batman stops being a Duche and Superman becomes entertaining again, and Aquaman stops being a joke. Oh well. I am going to miss Goeff, because even with his flaws he was a champion of the Character Green Lantern wich was anice change from the past where he was treated like crap.

Aquaman isn't really much of a joke anymore. Not sure if you reading his book or not.
I LOVE conspiracy theorists. They are like human versions of the cymbal clapping, dancing monkeys. No one takes them all that seriously and they get bored with them after about 10 minutes.

they did, but I dont think any1 here really knows *by how much* since that info is has been hard to come by (Ive tried digging, and have a black hole for 80s & early 90s comics), and the quality of a story is purely subjective experience since while a book can sell really well.........that doesnt mean the stories would be good to *YOU* as an individual.

proof of that would be GL's sales numbers now: the book sells well currently, but I personally bailed out on it right after WotGL.

if i take over a comic and it takes me longer than the first story to fix what the last writer screwed up, then it's unfixable because i'm not gonna fix it.

and dc has lost no faith in gl. that's why we got a threshold title and are getting a larfleeze title. although what any of that has to do with gl, i don't know.

you also have to consider though that mosaic and the glc quarterly were canceled to make way for kyle, despite having good sales. and i do know that when it was announced that hal and the corps were coming back, kyle's sales had dropped to 31k. but with all that said, his ass lasted a lot longer than i ever would have imagined.

This is a problem with you though, not with the Green Lantern per so.

it's a problem with the whole system of letting a writer completely rework a property in his own image, and then expecting someone later to get everything back out of that box. yes, some fans for some reason enjoy that process, but i want to see stories, not writers playing "you screw it up and i'll fix it."

I attribute Morrison's "God Seven" JLA for that. It ingratiated the Alley Rat to the rest of DC's readers and shot him up to elite status in the DCU, allowing for a number of League(r) guest-appearances and scale exploits in his one-horse GL town. Were it not for the JL revival and Jordan's FoundersCard, Vasquez probably would have floundered some more in the minors.
