Im so temtpted to strip kamala khan from being muslim to Jewish and have her be a immigrant from tel aviv. 50 bucks says i get called islamaphobic wile other characters being stripped of who they are is considered ok . I just dont believe in stripping a character of there identity wether its batman, wether its black panther, wether its punisher or kamala khan ect. Seriously would any life long x men reader be for changing jean grey from female to mail and called gene ? I mean seriously when is enough enough?

Adding to the idea of bad taste if kamala khan was introduced in say 2003 2004 post 911 Couldn't people argue the hijab or any form of Islamic garb male or female represents terrorism because at the time a lot of us (and i include myself in this) were conditioned to think every arab is a muslim terrorist and hates American values? I think its just as wrong to say police and military are racist or have bad taste simply for a patch of a comic character

Bad taste? Maybe (more so for cops for whom killing should be a last resort). But it's really just an extension of fighter pilots adding crossbones to their fuselage or gunfighters notching their hilt. I think it's kind of gallows/macabre humor. When lethal force is part of your job (talking soldiers especially here), there's many ways to cope with that and one is to basically wear it on the sleeve.

I know Navy Seal Chris Kyle's unit (I think first the Marine unit he was tasked with leading through safety patrols) adopted the Punisher symbol for intimidation. He might actually be the start of it from what I read.

I can almost guarantee that in a couple of years -- if not much sooner -- he'll be back to his classic skull and weaponry. I mean, he's always sort of been the ultimate conservative vigilante icon. They may want to distance themselves from January 6 right now, but they aren't going to forsake the characters' core fanbase for long. The second he shows up in a movie or TV show again, it'll all be switched back to normal.

Assuming punisher gets a live adtion treatment from marvel. John bernthal stated he wont do a kid friendly punisher. He wants to keep it true to the character. I just recently became a huge moon knight reader and with the show coming in i think summer 2022 i know with him they will tone down the violence but marks disisosiave identity disorder is still in tact there not changing it do to school shootings or the everyday gun violence here in Illinois not just in Chicago and we became a public health crisis thanks to govenor fatass and mayor et. Remember when Roy Harper started using guns instead of his bow? How about when he stopped using guns, and returned to using the bow? Or how he eventually lost his arm and started throwing knives? And then how he was using a bow again when everything got rebooted? Comic book characters go through changes, but they always return to the status quo eventually. Frank Castle will be no exception.

Wile true comics change but it was stated officially this change has to do with January 6th. There not changing it to progress Frank castle there doing it for political reason. Police use the skull as a patch and with police being labelled as racist now the skull is a problem. This Would be a issue if people stripped simon baz and kamala khan's Islamic background and switching them to Jewish with the whole Israel Palestinian conflict. Im not trying to be cute or funny or controversial but hypocrisy is hypocrisy. What if marvel decided to change magneto from a holocaust survivor to say a illegal imigrant from Mexico? Well. I'm old enough to remember the year or so where he killed himself and came back as some kind of an avenging angel where he could manifest guns out of thin air to kill people... so maybe it isn't time to sound the alarm yet. Though given the general landscape out there right now... who knows?

You should see what they did with punisher._._ im not Happy at all. I posted it in the outrage of the week thread. They are stripping away his guns and gave him a hideous new skull logo. Now Could you imagine the outrage if someone stripped away kamala khan's Islamic belief and made her a practicing jew Christian or Catholic? People will lose there shit and call it islamicphobia. Politics and religion aside i dont believe in stripping a character of who they are . It be like saying lets change batman from Bruce seeing hi s parents murdered in front of him to a kid whos bullied in school for whatever reason. You know the concept of someone being "over" in professional wrestling? It's a wrestler who's accepted by the fans. It's someone doesn't need to prove himself any longer and can probably wrestle for as long as he's physically able.

Comics keep trying unsuccessfully to leverage "overness" to expand their market.

Superman is over, so they create a bisexual Superman to persuade bisexuals to buy their comics.

Green Lantern is over, so they keep adding all kinds of ethnic and sexual minority Earth Lanterns to appeal to various markets.
