Yeah, the first glimpse of Salaak, John Stewart, and G'Nort are worse than I ever imagined. Everyone's using multicolored blasters and crude-looking blades. Pitiful.

Once again, this kind of plot ("the Central Power Battery has gone dark!") could have been prevented with properly written Alpha Lanterns, independent batteries the way Kyle Rayner's used to be, the cartoon version of the Interceptor, etc. (But NOT that stupid "power ring that recharges slowly" with Sojourner “Jo” Mullein from Far Sector. But if that change was made to ALL power rings, I would accept it.)

Power, depower. Power, depower. I'm getting sick of these plots. They've been done so many times... We've seen how many Lanterns are "fighters in their own rights" vs. power ring jockeys.

Make the Lanterns defeat a villain without using their rings. Screw up the CPB, fix the CPB. Destroy the Corps, rebuild the Corps. Nuke Hal, bring Hal back. I wouldn't be surprised if that were coming.

And the theme of "what it really means to be a Green Lantern" too. When Geoff did that, I began to suspect that the property was in trouble. This new guy might think it's never been done.

BTW, this comic doesn't need Alpha Lanterns, an Honor Guard or any of that "who's the greatest?" stuff. Just Green Lanterns.

            .
I've pondered that theory for some time now. Perhaps we're in for a stretch where there is no Central Power Battery if Jo's ring is somehow the answer to the GL's being depowered. I don't want that to be the case forever, but it has temporary possibilities.

This was a very good issue for a What IF/Elseworlds template. It gave us a glimpse into how John, Jessica, and Guy's personalities would develop if they were thrust into heroism without their rings for years on end. Each story had a distinct flavor, which I appreciate. My only criticisms are minor. We did a Comics Corner vidcast on this issue & the Flash Future State, which I'll link when it goes live.

^Guy’s story felt very authenticate and interesting.

Jessica’s wasn’t bad, but it felt a stretch that she developed all this mechanical skill and that Oan tech is so compatible with basic human tools.

Jon’s story was alright and I was glad it incorporated other GLs, but I’m not a big fan of dystopian stories (with a few exceptions).
