Is it possible that the reason these podcasts aren't funny is because whoever edits them cuts all the GOOD STUFF?!

I haven't heard the newest episode, I'm behind on everything. But, the constant interupting of each others reviews does get frustrating. And I'm sure it is editing hell trying to sift through the digressions when nuggets of relevence pops through.
I'm still listening, though, because it is still the best GL podcast on the net

30 was the last episode edited by me. Take up 31 and onward with Kuhan.

I'm generally in favor of leaving in the situational humor unless it becomes like a big tangent. But even then I'd just move them after the end credits. I think Kuhan is making like one big "bloopers" episode out of the cut bits from 30.

I'll assume you're talking to me.

Here's why I "hate" Kyle....

I, sadly, got into comics right before the notion of collecting really exploded and the Comic book store/memorabilia/internet blew up.

So I have this jaded (and probably incorrect) notion that I was around right when the industry got cynical and greedy and shitty.

And honestly... the mid to late 90s made some RRRRRRRRRRREALLY shitty comics.

And in my mind Kyle was the figurehead of the whole movement.


Superman got killed but came back.
Batman got his back broken but healed.

But Green Lantern? MY HERO??? The interesting and introspective hero with a supporting cast of interesting and (mildly) tortured heroes like John Stewart overseeing the Oan Mosaic, Guy Gardner trying to learn how to be a hero after having to abandon his Green Lantern ring....

All of that completely and utterly wiped out with a single shitty pen stroke in order to "skew young".

And to those of you who say "Parrallax was a cool villian"

Shut the fuck up. No he wasn't. He was the fucking lamest villain ever. Zero Hour sucked fucking ASS.


Kyle didn't just "kill" Hal... he killed John, Guy, The Corps, Killowog etc etc etc

and I know I know... "Hal did all that".

Fuck you. Hal and Kyle are fictional characters. Neither of them actually did anything.

But an entire corner of the DCU that I had grown to love was completely nullified so that a bunch of idiotic fucking morons could have a "younger hipper" hero.

To those who are weeping over Kyle's "death".... imagine having the end of Green Lantern #42 not only be the death of Kyle but also the last time you get to see any of your other favorite Lanterns.





And to solidify my argument....

Who did you like more in Star Wars?

Luke who was young and naive and new to the whole world of being a hero and the last of the Jedi Knights?

Or HAN FUCKING SOLO who had rough edges and was swarthy and experienced and had been around the block and was a bit of a ladies man.



If you said Luke Skywalker then you are a fucking idiot and clearly didn't get beat up enough in High School.

Characters like Hal and Han Solo make for stories that have depth and ambiguity.

Characters like Kyle and Luke make stories that are friendly for sheltered little assholes who want to dress up like their heroes and not ever get insulted or picked on.

Ideally you'd have both... but if I have to choose just one. I'll watch Han Solo, Hal Jordan and Malcolm Reynolds a thousand times before I ever considered watching Luke Skywalker, Kyle Rayner or... oh I don't know.... let's say... Neo from the Matrix.

Fuck Neo. Fuck Kyle. Fuck you.

Zero Hour was a sound introduction for Hal, as Parallax, as an anti-hero/supervillain/Magneto-like-misunderstood-hero into the DCU. They just didn't deliver afterward... and then DC felt compelled to backpeddle and bury the whole idea in some kind of Vader-esque sacrifice.

And to add my 2 cents on one the most hotly debated issues in comics today:
In portugese, "r" is pronounced like "h". So it sounds like "eevon hays"

But they did bring up the point that even compared to the 12 month long Crisis on Infinite Earths the Blackest Night story is going exactly nowhere.

By page 9 of Issue 1 of CoIE we had seen two universes (including that of Earth-Three) destroyed and what have we seen in Blackest Night by issue #4 makes the Turtle look like the freaking Flash.
