  • Does anyone recharge?

I was reading a couple threads today and I started to think of something. Does anyone recharge their rings anymore? I don't recall actually seeing any mention of it for quite some time.

I believe it mentions that the GLC was really low on power during a battle at one point, and I think they recharged (can't remember). But do they still do it? I guess I think of old school GL's (sorry old school not talking about you), and they would show a GL recharging every so often.

And don't bring the blue lanterns into this, because that messes this up even more.

And then on the same thought.... do any of the other Corps' have to recharge their rings? The Sinestro corps looks like they can just keep going and not run out. Same goes for others.

Does anyone remember the Sinestro Corps War? Did either side need to recharge at any point?

Just a random thought here at work.

I think it is supposed to be understood that they need to recharge, but they don't make a big deal out of it. It seems like the pendulum has swung the opposite direction from the old days, when GL had to have a panel showing him charging and reciting his oath EVERY issue (same thing for panels of the Flash getting his uniform out of his ring). I always thought that was overkill, but this does kind of seem like a bit of "underkill". Possibly it is because there are so many Corps now that we would have tons of recharging panels if they all had to be shown recharging? But GLs definintely still have to charge, and Sinestro Corps members do, too (that's why they kept Manhunter Robot/batteries with them during the SCW).

It's not like in the sixties when Hal's biggest enemy was his own need to recharge, but yeah they still do.

well I haven't been expecting to see panels upon panels of a "insert" corps member recharging their ring. But as Mr. Ed put it, they have almost 'underkilled' it. To me, at least, it's almost as if they don't need to pull out a battery and recharge ever. They can just do it whenever they feel like it. I guess in that respect I think of 'why does a corps member have a personal battery', it's not like any of them use them anymore.

You know what? The next time this will even be brought up is in the middle of a big fight, when all of a sudden all the GLs are down to like 10% like they were during the SCW.

They pull it out as a GIANT PLOT DEVICE every once in a while. other than that, it gets ignored.

while on the topic of batteries....I am curious to know....can a GL use another GL's battery. Like say Guy and John are out on a mission and Guy's ring runs out of juice can he use John's battery to recharge if it is the only one readily available.

They have always been able to in the past, and so far nothing has dis confirmed that they still can.

well... if it was mine, I'd at least ask them to wash their rings first... who knows where they've been and what yellow demons they may have picked up and inserting into my battery.

                  that's just gross

Well, I'm sure Guy would only let fellow Wolverines use his battery, but other than that they probably can.

One thing that's always bothered me is more with the Sin Corp's batteries. The Guarians and Zamarons are all hyped up over the rings, but they just leave those batteries floating out there. I'll be annoyed if, when the Sin Corps rings finally are relased, if they're all at full power.

I suppose I just don't care about showing GLs recharge that much. When it happens, make it special.

Does a ring slowly lose charge if it is not being used. You know like when you leave an iPod lying around and its been off for a real long time and when you go to use it the battery is dead even though it wasn't on. (hope that wasn't confusing...it made sense in my head)

it'd be cool for them to end an issue with the last page showing panels of corps members recharging their rings. don't do it every issue, but at least, show something like that a few times a year. ya know?

i am not that fussed over the whole recharge thing. I would prefer if they just showed a recharge when it has some significance in the story (maybe the corps stranded somewhere and fighting on low energy rings, maybe before a big battle ... something like that.)

anyway ... they created the blue lanterns now and those batteries seem redundand. Just have a Blue Lantern riding along a couple of GLs and give them the recharge they need every now and then ....

like groupies do when a band is on tour ....
