  • My Theory on Blackest Night Ending

Im a newbie. But while driving to work I gave this much thought. I think this is how the Blackest Night Storyline will go:

Black Lanterns lay waste to most of the Universe. Killing lots and lots of heroes (and ordinary folks) until finally they get 100% Power back up.

Then big bad dude shows up from Sector 666. More trouble for our remaining, living heroes.

Then just as things get utterly hopeless, he and the rest of the super undeads will be stopped by a WHITE Lantern. One White Lantern.

The White Lantern's power has the ability to bring back to life ALL who were revived as zombies by the Black Rings. And I mean they become transformed by the white ring into REAL Living beings,, a form of true resurrection.

Black Power battery goes back to zero...evil dude from 666 gets depowered...all the revived heroes (Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Firestorm, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Elongated Man, etc.) get a second lease at life.

Now before you laugh at my idea, I'll explain in detail in my next post...

    Question:

There is NO White lantern is there?

Yeah there's Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet but there's no white?

Well, The GL mythos now revolve around the symbolism of color and emotions. Each color represents an emotion. We all know each (green=willpower, orange=avarice, red=rage, indigo=compassion)

Let's remember one thing,,,Light when broken down produces these colors ROY G BIV.

Another thing is, each emotion is present in normal beings. We all feel compassion, we have willpower, we feel compassion, anger/rage, hope, etc.

So what happens when all these colors, all these factions , all these emotions unite and combine?

It produces LIGHT. Represented by white. A white lantern.
White is also symbolic of LIFE. White=LIFE versus Black=Death.

That's why none of the lanterns rings stand any chance of defeating the black lanterns, if they are alone.

All 7 colors, all 7 factions must combine into one, be united as one, to produce the LIGHT/LIFE or WHITE Lantern Ring.

We've seen this with HAL, he can control not just the green ring but also others. He has also been host (even for a very short time) to the orange and red rings. One person can control all these emotions and all these rings and all these powers.

Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet, Orange have their own powers, the controlling factor that can bring them together is indigo. We've seen that indigo can "mimic" the powers of yellow and green, so I assume they can control the rest except black.

I think in the end, all these colors will combine, all the factions shall unite. And there will be a white lantern.

Now that I'm done with theorieticals, I'll give my more detailed blackest night story...

    On my next post...

Well here it would probably go.

Black lanterns cause havoc Universe-wide. They kill heroes, then they turn them into black lanterns.

Moer blacks, more dead. This would feed more energy into the Black Lantern Power Battery.

Every hero will fight their equivalents, Black Superman, Martian Manhunter, Firestorm, etc.

Some heroes may turn into Lanterns themselves, in the desperation of the moment. (Superman Blue, Kyle Blue, Doomsday? Red, etc.)

The key here is for the various lanterns to work together. There could be myriads of ways how to do this, so I wont guess.

But the thing is, even if all of them work together, Larfleeze, Big Red dude, Sinestro, Hal, etc. They still wont overcome the blacks.

So the answer lies in the Indigo tribe. They have the power to mimic / process each colors powers, so this means they could combine all the colors into one super White Ring.

Heroes figure out to do this just in the nick of time.

At the last moment, when all seems lost, the single White Lantern appears (could be part of the secret prophecy of the lanterns?)

His power is to bring life. He "heals" all the zombified heroes and returns them alive but in their normal state.

This would produce a decrease in the power of the Black Power Battery, weakening big bad of 666. Heroes handle him and he returns to limbo state.

At the end of the arc, we have a revived Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Elongated Man, and the rest of the zombified heroes.

Batman, obviously will not be included because he was not zombified by Black hand.

      So that's it.

Hope you like my theories. I have so many things in mind about this story and it's hard to explain them all.

      Thanks.

Oh by the way, I think the white lantern will die.

To give life to others, he must forsake his own.

That's why my best bet is Sinestro.

I think the prerequisite to become a white lantern is Redemption.

And who needs redemption the most in the GL Universe?

Plus the moment Hal Jordan used the blue ring, he saw a vision of the future...Sinestro saying "I cant do this without you"

I think it would mean that Hal will have to share his willpower to turn Sinestro into the White Lantern. This could be how the white lantern is born, each individual lantern segment must share their emotions, RAGE, AVARICE,HOPE,COMPASSION,FEAR,LOVE into the white ring.

That's also why Sinestro will be known as the greatest lantern of all time.

        Im thinking too much...

You don't need four posts to post that theory. It's annoying.

The idea of a hypothetical White Lantern is far from original. Geoff has officially stated numerous times that there won't be a White Lantern.

However, I agree that every single Black Lantern will be resurrected to true life again.

In any case, welcome to the board.

            Thanks for the welcome.

And Im sorry for putting up 4 posts. Its my first time.

Anyways. There's not much originality in comics nowadays. Superhero Zombies? Hmmm.. Marvel did that a couple of years back.

            It's the execution that matters.

Even if this white lantern thing is the most obvious and the most unoriginal approach they're going to take, DCs writers are doing an excellent job in execution.

I've never read GL before. But because of the Darkest Night Im posting in these threads.

This is how exciting this is.

And I hope DC wont f it up like they did Final Crisis.

But they said it's not going to happen. Geoff said so himself. He wasn't evasive, he wasn't hesitating, he was asked point-blank if there will be a White Lantern or other entity combining the emotions, and he said no. End of story.

They won't screw it up like Final Crisis because Geoff has a better plan and is less confusing a writer than Morrison.
"My mind is deluged with thoughts of Heaven and Hell,
Crime and Punishment, Damnation and Redemption. Hal
                Jordan... And The Spectre.

I'm dead, yet I live. I have no identity. Yet I know
who I am. And once again I've been given power enough
to change the world. This time, Lord...
                Let me be worthy."

I am so sick of people comparing Blackest Night to Marvel Zombies. They're nothing alike except that both have zombies. That's like comparing King Kong and Curious George because they both have primates.

do you have a link to where geoff said no?

it also is possible he may be trying to deny it as to not give it away.

all that aside I'm sure that the indigo absorption power may be key. If its not to create something maybe they will join hands with the other lanterns of various color to turn there staffs into "white light lazers" capable of stopping a black lantern, or their boss.

It will end with a Care Bear stare instead of White Lanterns.

There's only one acceptable way for this to end.

BY YOUR POWERS COMBINED, I AM CAPTAIN PLANET!

I think that in the end, all will be some kind of dream and Hal's still the Spectre

I must have misunderstood the interview I read, because I thought he said "just wait and see" when asked about white lanterns.
