Why gloss over Sinestro's terrible crimes?

If you're going to use this character in an ongoing, don't tell me how "great" he is and make him someone who fanboys will gush of, "Yay, maybe he'll show up in Villains Month!"

Acknowledge what he's done and proceed from there please.

It's cheaper to just tell people how great he is. DCs continuity is ruined anyway, so nobody really knows what he did and did not do in the past.
